The British Airways sale: Club World flights from £1,199 return

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

British Airways has just launched its latest sale. Until midnight on 2nd February, BA is offering Club World tickets from £1,199.

There are some excellent deals to be had, with consistently low prices on some routes. You can book as far in advance as November 2021 on many of the routes.

The best way to see what is available is via the ‘low fare finder’ page on the British Airways website here.

The main sale page is here.

Business class: Club World BA sale deals

New York is the cheapest long haul fare at £1,199, which is about the same as it’s been in previous sales.

You’ll find the best sale fares to the US west coast, with Seattle and Tampa cheaper than they’ve ever been since we started tracking sale prices:

  • San Diego from £1,495
  • San Francisco from £1,495
  • San Jose from £1,495
  • Seattle from £1,295
  • Tampa from £1,437
  • Orlando from £1,499

South America and the Caribbean also see some excellent reductions. Rio and Buenos Aires are the cheapest we have seen in a sale like this:

  • Buenos Aires from £1,795
  • Cancun from £1,539
  • Grand Cayman from £1,549
  • Grenada from £1,389
  • Kingston from £1,186
  • Mexico City from £1,586
  • Montego Bay from £1,185

  • St Lucia from £1,349
  • Tobago from £1,479

Business class: Club Europe BA sale deals

There’s some very attractive Club Europe prices out there too. It is good to see some popular destinations like Malaga and Barcelona featuring in their best prices.

Barcelona in Club Europe for £166 really is a great deal, but don’t forget that both Athens and Larnaca are 160 tier point routes. If you’re looking for British Airways status, £198 or £229 for 160 tier points is attractive.  A full list of 160 tier point earning routes is here.

  • Malaga from £168
  • Athens from £198
  • Barcelona from £166
  • Larnaca from £229
  • Gibraltar from £144
  • Geneva from £180
  • Nice from £187

Premium Economy: World Traveller Plus sale deals

Although we usually focus on Club World/Club Europe fares, we’ve listed a handful of World Traveller Plus fares below as there are a few to keep an eye on.

  • New York from £489
  • Boston from £549
  • Dubai from £595
  • Jamaica from £603
  • Los Angeles from £620
  • Hong Kong from £773

You’ll earn additional Avios with World Traveller Plus, and if you are chasing British Airways status then the extra tier points are an added benefit.  You can also upgrade your seat with Avios to Club World / Club Suite if availability opens up.

This HfP article lists all British Airways routes and the tier points they earn.  World Traveller Plus earns 90 tier points each-way compared with just 20 tier points each way for the cheapest World Traveller (economy) tickets.  One return flight puts you more than half-way to Bronze status.

BA Holidays Sale

If you fancy wrapping up your hotel stay and flights into a package, there are some decent savings to be made with BA Holidays.

You can often save hundreds by booking a package rather than a flight-only deal, particularly when it comes to business class flights. If you need a car or hotel, a flight + car or flight + hotel will also often be cheaper than booking them separately.

Here’s a selection of both Economy and Business Class flight based BA packages:

The Algarve from £349 per person in March seven nights at the 5* Tivoli Marina Vilamoura & Euro Traveller return flights.

Greece from £539 per person in May – seven nights at the 5* Ixian Grand, all-inclusive & Euro Traveller return flights

Dubai from £619 per person in May – three nights half board at 5* Jumeirah Beach Hotel & World Traveller return flights

St Lucia from £749 per person in June – seven nights at 4* Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa & World Traveller return flights

Las Vegas from £1,441 per person in May – five nights at 4* Sahara Las Vegas & Club World return flights

Barbados from £1,463 per person in October – seven nights at 4* Marigot Beach Club and Dive Resort & Club World return flights

Don’t forget –you also earn an extra 1 Avios per £1 when you book BA Holidays packages.  This is on top of the standard Avios you receive from the flight and the double Avios you would receive if you pay with a British Airways Premium Plus credit card.

Changing and cancelling a flight or holiday

This year’s events have understandably made many people nervous about booking future travel. With no clear outlook on 2021 travel, it may feel risky to book a future flight or holiday. But on the other side, these are some of the lowest prices we have seen for BA Club World travel…

Therefore, we thought it would be good to recap on BA’s ‘Book with Confidence’ and the BA Holidays Customer Promise so you know if you have the option to change your booking date and destination or even cancel it completely:

Book with Confidence – British Airways

Changing your booking

You can change the dates and destination of your booking without incurring a change fee, although you will need to pay any difference in price.

This applies to bookings made from 3 March 2020 onwards for journeys that are due to have been completed by 31 August 2021.

Cancelling your booking

If you decide you no longer want to travel, you can cancel your booking and BA will give you a voucher to the same value for a future booking (as above, this applies to bookings made from 3 March 2020 onwards for journeys that are due to have been completed by 31 August 2021).

BA Holidays Customer Promise

Changing your booking

You can change the dates and destination of your booking without incurring a change fee, although you will need to pay any difference in price.

This applies to new bookings made for journeys that are completed by 31 August 2021. You will need to give BA Holidays 3 weeks’ notice though for your changes to be processed.

Accommodation and flight standards

Accommodation partners have been asked to sign up to BA’s new Covid-19 minimum standards, created in line with World Health Organization guidance.

In the event that BA Holidays cannot fulfil your holiday package, you will receive a full refund within 14 days.

All BA Holidays are ATOL protected, for complete peace of mind.

Conclusion

There are some decent lead-in prices listed for the BA Sale, particularly in Club World and Club Europe.

As travel restrictions ease in 2021, the demand for travel is likely to be pretty high, and you should expect the airlines prices to increase in line with this.

You can book on the BA sale site here.

  • Chris Heyes says:

Some good sale prices on offer, but i suspect any earlier bookings, BA will pull the plug on some routes if not a big take up.
I’m fairly sure there will be another BA sale (or 2/3) in 2021 maybe them’s the one’s to wait for.
I’m also fairly sure later on (with a successful vaccination program)
certificates will follow, all will depend on the numbers ?

  • Brian says:

Can I get my money back (not a voucher) if the place I’m planning to go to won’t then let me in but the flight hasn’t been cancelled?

What if BA don’t fly to my second choice destination or the flight is significantly more expensive than the competition or my original flight?

    • Joe says:

If you are due to travel before 31 Aug and you don’t want to travel (but the flight is going ahead), you can have a travel voucher (but not a cash refund).

      • Brian says:

        Thanks.

That doesn’t fill me with too much “confidence”. I’d rather have my money back than give BA an interest free loan!

    • Nick says:

It’s not BA’s fault that you don’t hold the right documents to allow you entry to a particular country, so no, a refund is not available in this circumstance. You can, however, take a voucher if you choose not to travel.

      • Brian says:

Fair enough. I’ll wait until things are clearer before booking a “sale” fare!

        • Sean says:

Book a fully flexible fare if that is what you want – wont be cheap mind.

          • Brian says:

I’ll just book closer to the time when there’s more certainty about entry requirements. When I book a holiday I prefer to know that it’s actually going to happen!

  • Gillian Wilson says:

Just had flights to Bangkok cancelled 2 days after rerouting from KL because that was cancelled. We were using a 2-4-1 voucher. If we take a voucher can we use that for a BA holiday or would it still just be flights? Thinking might be better to change to Caribbean or indian ocean instead.

    • roberto says:

Its like for like , so any BWC voucher that includes a 241 voucher can not be for a BAH. It also has to be for the same two people. If you flight has been cancelled you are entitled to get a full refund with NO costs

  • George says:

Looks to me like Kingston and Montego Bay are actually the cheapest long haul destinations in Club World, not New York

  • MKB says:

Some good First prices too. Just booked to Boston out in BA First and back in AA Business over the August bank holiday for £1600 each.

    • MattB says:

I’m looking at something similar to NY, just need to work out how to make it a holiday booking for as cheap as possible.

  • lashious says:

I have happily (and foolishly?) attempted a TP run to get to my first ever silver. Such fun, hope it all comes off and I’ll send you a pic of me haggling for a turkish coffee maker in a bazaar. Also if Lady London is reading, what a woman, fielding all those questions yesterday. Should have a helpful community member badge x 🙂

  • jamie rennie says:

I have a booking to Mumbai on March 10th which was done using avios plus cash when BA had the half-avios promotion running a few months back. If, as now seems likely, India still hasn’t opened it’s borders by then will i be entitled to take advantage of still using the lesser amount of avios in any re-booking of my flight? In fact, if the flight operates as per schedule even though entry to India is still restricted in March, will i actually be entitled to a full refund of my avios and cash should i not wish to rebook at the FULL avios plus cash price for a flight at a later date if. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
