By now, you may have seen that we are running a five day prize giveaway with Jones Bootmaker. Every day until Sunday, a pair of shoes worth at least £89 will be up for grabs.

Friday’s prize is ….

Today we’re offering the chance to win a pair of ‘Elton’ double monk suede shoes. The monk shoe is certainly a classic, but the black suede and double buckle of the ‘Elton’ gives the shoe a more contemporary twist. According to Jones Bootmaker, ‘monk’ shoes garnered their name from alpine monks who introduced buckled shoes in monasteries throughout Europe in the 15th Century.

These shoes are worth £89 and feature in Jones Bootmaker’s Multi-Buy offer. The Multi-Buy promotion offers two pairs of selected shoes for £150.

Well, if no-one else is entering, I’ll be a shoe-in to whom this prize

  • BS says:

I think if I win I can confirm they definitely will not be stocking my size, and I will have to take the voucher

  • Lady London says:

Very Continental style. But not usually done in suede / nubuck mix likr this. If they were they would have at least 1 bright colour on part and would be sold in Paris for 750 euros. I jest not.

In pure solid leather they can really be the business either with a trendy-classic outfit or just visible under a City suit.

Personally I think the buckles aren’t big enough it should wrap over more, the straps should be wider and the (more solid and bigger) buckles should be positioned lower.

On sale generally at Hermes Faubourg St Honore over the years if that’s good enough for you.

To the naysayers: Jones Bootmaker do this shoe in leather as well. I imagine they are using the 5 days to show the range of options they produce, in both style and material. Makes perfect marketing sense to me.

    • BS says:

Yes. I imagine the comments under each article would give them good market feedback for the HfP readership

  • TimM says:

My very wise mother says that men should never wear suede shoes. I entered.
