The HfP chat thread – Friday 18th December

We have decided to run this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I have a ex-EU in February from AMS to GIG (surprised still not canceled). This week BA has canceled my last return leg (AMS-LHR) and I need to call to book a different flight, but next one available is 6hrs after my arrival from GIG. I seem to remember that after 3 or 4hrs delay to arrival they need to compensate. What exactly is the legislation in this case?
Merry Xmas to everyone and stay safe.

If they’ve cancelled your flight and offered you an alternative that’s more than four hours time difference, you are entitled to a refund, reroute or rebooking.

    • marcw says:

Compensation only if change happens within 14 days or flight departure.

Remember that, unless you live in the EU, you may be banned to enter The Netherlands. Also, remember, that as of the 1st of January 2021, travellers from non-EU countries entering The Netherlands must show a negative COVID-19 PCR test.

      • Anna says:

Also, compensation for Covid-related cancellations is currently suspended, which I am certain BA would claim this is!

      • JSlv says:

No issues in EU (passport holder), will need to look at the test closer to the date.
On the flight I guess will need to sit on the lounge for 6hrs for the only available flight. Thank you all for the replies
