The Government announced this evening that the United Arab Emirates has been removed from the ‘travel corridors’ list.

Anyone landing in the UK after visiting Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any of the other Emirates after 4am tomorrow (Tuesday) will need to quarantine for 10 days. This can be reduced to 5 days via the ‘test to release’ scheme.

The removal comes after a sharp rise in reported cases in the UAE over the last couple of days. The Scottish Government brought in its own block this morning after cases involving the Celtic football team which had taken a ‘training break’ in Dubai.

The official ‘travel corridor’ list, which already reflects this change, is on this page of the Government website.

Interesting that UAE is now ahead of us in vaccine delivery.

I think that might be due to the fact they went for the Chinese vaccine. Most of the world went for a US or EU produced jab.

Pfizer is also available within the UAE but being distributed on a priority need basis via appointment in the local health authority app given the limited doses available.

    • Blenz101 says:

Wrong! The figures for Dubai for vaccinations include both residents and nationals.

Vaccines are for free to anyone with an Emirates ID and even available at some centres without appointment if you are happy to wait a few hours.

They even set up a field hospital today at a nearby office block to my office with a walk in service for office workers.

The UAE is in no way perfect but they have acted to look after the interests of all residents during the pandemic.

2nd in the world to Israel I believe.

It was only heading one way for the UAE. Whilst the bog standard prevention measures of masks etc. are in place for most, there has been absolute failure to control those posing the highest risk for passing on the disease.
