A JW Marriott hotel is heading for Berlin

Whilst you will have to wait until 2022 for this, it looks like Berlin will become to be one of the best cities in Europe for high-end Marriott Bonvoy hotels.

As well as having one of the few The Ritz Carlton hotels in Europe, on a prime position in Potsdamer Platz, Berlin has what I consider to be the best Marriott in Europe (reviewed here). There are plenty of other Marriott Bonvoy options too.

From 2022, a JW Marriott will be added to the mix. It has taken over what used to be a 4-star Maritim Hotel on Stauffenbergstraße, pictured above. This is close to the existing Berlin Marriott and The Ritz Carlton.

Marriott will have to work hard to pull this off. It is not reducing the room count, which will remain at 505 and is high for a luxury property. A lot of money will need to be spent if it intends to outclass the Marriott, which is smaller and has recently had its own refurbishment. It is always good to have more options though.

I’ve been Titanium with Marriott for 15++ years. Berlin gem of a property, boutique and classy recommend is the Hotel Am Steinplatz, Autograph Collection. My favourite Marriott branded property across their network. And I’ve stayed at a quite a few!

Thanks, Glenn. I had my eye on that property but sadly my trip to Berlin had to be cancelled due to the covid situation.

You’ll get there! Well worth it. Restaurant is so lovely. Great breakfast too.

      Anything decent in Munich, Glenn?!

Hi, the Autograph there (called Roomers), oddly has very small rooms. Lots of lower end choices, best is Residence Inn Ostbahnhof. Quality and price.

Thanks, @Rob – bought a few shirts from Hackett, hope using your link gives you some commission. The 10 Avios per pound have posted for me in the past, in case anybody wanted a data point. Shame there’s no Amex Hackett offer to stack it with!

Worth highlighting bicester hackett are doing virtual sales via whatsapp. I would think (not sure) but they could add your Hackett membership to the transaction (at least they do when you shop in store). + I heard from others on here that you can still claim avios for shopping at bicester too

I used to work on the F1 cars at Mclaren, if you pay me in Avios, I’ll tell you all about it!!
