We wanted to to remind you today that Sainsbury’s Energy is currently offering a strong Nectar points bonus if you move both your gas and electricity supply over to their 2 year Fix & Reward tariff. The offer is only available until 18th March.

You will collect 10,000 bonus Nectar points1 if you switch both electricity and gas, or 5,000 bonus Nectar points1 for just a single fuel.

Sainsbury's Energy

This is the biggest bonus that Sainsbury’s Energy has offered for some time, which is excellent timing given the new British Airways partnership.

The sign-up bonus of 10,000 Nectar points would convert to 6,250 Avios.

If you are a regular Sainsbury’s shopper, you will get even more Nectar points on your groceries. This is potentially worth another 7,000 points per year on top2!

Collecting Nectar points with Sainsbury’s Energy

If you move both your gas and electricity over to Sainsbury’s Energy at the moment, you’ll get 10,000 bonus Nectar points for joining on their 2-Year Fix & Reward tariff1. This means £50-worth of Nectar points just for switching, or 6,250 Avios.

Whilst the bonus is attractive on its own, there is an interesting extra benefit too for Sainsbury’s shoppers.

As a Sainsbury’s shopper, you’ll get triple Nectar points on your shopping for the duration of your tariff2.  Nectar members usually receive 1 point per £1 spent in-store at Sainsbury’s, but as a Sainsbury’s Energy customer, you’ll get an additional two points per £1 on top.

(Triple points is for dual fuel customers.  If you move only your electricity or gas across, you receive double Nectar points at Sainsbury’s.)

How do the bonus in-store points work?

There is a limit on the bonus Nectar points you can receive in-store from Sainsbury’s Energy.  You can collect a maximum of 3,500 points on Sainsbury’s shopping per fuel each year2.

Dual fuel customers are therefore capped at 7,000 bonus points per year – that’s £35 worth of Nectar points or 4,375 Avios.

You would need to spend £3,500 per year in Sainsbury’s to hit the cap, so it won’t be a problem for most.

Which tariffs qualify for bonus Nectar points?

The 10,000 bonus points1 are only available when you sign up to the Sainsbury’s Energy 2-Year Fix & Reward tariff for both gas and electricity.

You’ll collect a 5,000 point bonus1 for switching a single fuel to the 2-Year Fix & Reward tariff.

All Sainsbury’s Energy tariffs come with 100% renewable electricity3. Sainsbury’s Energy is rated ‘Great’ on Trustpilot4 and is a Which? top ten provider with UK based call centres.
