The HfP chat thread – Tuesday 16th March

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

BBC reporting that English people might be allowed to travel to Scotland from April 26th. Possibly the plan is to claw in some leisure revenue prior to the later opening of English hotels and restaurants?

    • TGLoyalty says:

English should be able to travel from April 12th but obviously can’t enter Wales or Scotland u til their rules allow.

I still think hotels might open in April.

In all seriousness, me and my partner are looking at buying a house together in his country of origin. I’m here in London. He is doing the initial viewings and then the idea is that I will look at any serious contenders that he finds. What paperwork would I need to satisfy the police at the airport? Just to be prepared etc.

    • Rob says:

Whatever the agent has sent you to confirm the viewing.

The airline really won’t care. When I flew a few weeks back they wished me a happy holiday.

  • Harley says:

Does anyone know if you are applicable for the current acount switch bonus with virgin if you have held regular savings (£250/month) with them before ( but not a current account) cant find it in terms

    • The real John says:

They are different – if you have the current account and the regular savings you need 2 different sets of login details and the site to log in is different!

    • Chrisasaurus says:

      Didn’t it expire yesterday?

    • Harry T says:

Offer for Virgin Points for switching expired yesterday.

      • mr_jetlag says:

There’s a new offer for the M Current account on the Red app. Same pig new lipstick – given the hassle I had with abysmal Virgin CSM I’ve given up but others may try it.
