South Western Railway has announced that it is leaving Nectar on 30th April.

This adds to the long list of retailers that have walked away from the programme in recent years, and takes away another option for indirectly earning Avios.

SWR says that:

“We have taken this decision as we adapt to the impact of COVID-19 on the railway and focus our efforts on running an efficient service that delivers great value to our customers every day.”

TransPennine Express and Great Western Railway, two other rail franchises managed by First Group, are remaining in the programme. Neither has faced the same financial difficulties as South Western which has seen the collapse of commuter revenue.
