Virgin Voyages UK cruises still bookable for points

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Three weeks ago, we covered Virgin Voyages, the brand new cruise company launched by Virgin Group, and its series of UK-only staycation cruises this August.

Virgin Red had cabins available for booking with Virgin Points. This was initially meant to be a special pre-launch offer which would be pulled when cash bookings opened up.

As it turns out, the packages are still available via Virgin Red. If you are not already a Virgin Red member, you can join here and then link your Flying Club account.

Whilst we made fun out of the idea (grime DJs, sofa beds and a tattoo parlour on a ship where no-one will be under 50 due to the vaccination rules …..) I know that a few readers have already booked.

Virgin Voyages UK cruises

The dates are:

  • Friday 6th – Monday 9th August
  • Monday 9th – Friday 13th August
  • Friday 13th – Monday 16th August
  • Monday 16th – Friday 20th August
  • Friday 20th – Monday 23rd August
  • Monday 23rd – Friday 27th August

There are two packages available:

  • the three-night ‘Long Weekender’ cruises at 180,000 Virgin Points for a two-person Sea Terrace cabin
  • the four-night Summer WeekDaze cruises at 215,000 Virgin Points for a two-person Sea Terrace cabin

All bookings made with Virgin Points will receive a free bottle of sparkling wine in their cabin. All sailings depart from, and arrive back into, Portsmouth.

Remember that:

  • no children are allowed
  • you must be fully vaccinated (both shots, plus three weeks) to travel, so if you haven’t already had your first jab then you won’t make it

Full details of the Virgin Voyages UK cruises are in our original article here. You can book with points via the Virgin Red app, and you can register for Virgin Red (free) here.

  • Doommonger says:

    Virgin Socks ridiculous
    Virgin Voyages oh please no
    Hyatt Points a good deal

    Doomey

    • Lady London says:

With all that pink in the picture part of me thinks those should be hold-ups not socks.

  • David S says:

“”Brand new” Hotel du Palais in Biarritz? I stayed there as a 10-year old 70 years ago. I remember my father reading the local paper which had a list of new arrivals staying at the hotel – including us!

    • Rob says:

It has been shut for years, gutted to within an inch of its life and reopened a few weeks ago.

  • Cal says:

Maybe I am the only one that ordered the socks? Didn’t seem to be a huge rip off and will go with my other purple Upper Class socks.

    • Rob says:

As you can’t buy these for cash, the usual ‘value per point’ equation doesn’t really come into play – if you like the look of them, order a few!

    • mr_jetlag says:

I ordered two pairs to augment my TAP Argyles.

    • The Streets says:

Think these are happy socks and managed to bag a pair before they sold out

  • Kevin C says:

Can’t find the socks. Maybe they’re sold out.

    • WaynedP says:

Inevitable once HFP purchasing power became involved.

Same thing happened with BA crockery sale & others.

I Would definitely market the financial clout of HFP to potentially topple giants if I were Rob 🙂

      • Rob says:

Yup, if Whatabuy had been paying commission it would probably have offset all of our covid losses elsewhere 🙂

We will get a few quid from eBay for the Club World crockery sold recently.

        • mr_jetlag says:

Yes retailers should sign up in droves to be “Robbed”…er, “HFP’ed”
          🙂

    • Rhiannon says:

      I can’t find them either! 😭

      • WaynedP says:

Keep your eyes peeled on Ebay over the next week or so for Sellers’ handles that might look familiar if you’re a regular HfP reader.

They’re a crafty, entrepreneurial bunch, this lot.

  • AndyGWP says:

I spotted the socks listed on the app yesterday morning… I then went on to eBay and noticed they tend to sell on their for a few quid (brand new), so worth keeping an eye out there if you missed out

  • Heathrow Flyer says:

Couldn’t think of a worse holiday than a domestic cruise. Especially with an older crowd. But each to their own I guess.
