Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

News: earn 4x Avios at eBay, Hackett / American Express cashback offer

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

News in brief:

Earn 3x bonus Avios at eBay this weekend

If your Nectar account is linked to your eBay account, and you are logged in, you should see an offer for 3x bonus points (for a total of 4x points) on purchases made by Monday 3rd May.

You should see a banner for the offer half way down the eBay home page. It is also part of the rotating banner at the top of the page. You must click ‘Activate’ to register.

The base earning rate at eBay is 1 Nectar point (0.625 Avios) per £1 spent. With this offer, you would receive 4 Nectar points (2.5 Avios) per £1 spent.

There is a £15 minimum spend required. There is a cap of 300 base Nectar points per item – so 1,200 points in total with this offer – and the usual eBay rules on excluded categories apply.

The eBay home page is here. You can find out more about the Nectar partnership, and link your card, on this special eBay page.

Hackett / Amex cashback offer – and earn Avios

There is also a cashback offer available with Hackett available on many American Express cards.

If you are targeted, and opt in, you will receive 20% cashback on purchases of £300+ by 31st May.

Note the terms:

  • you can earn the cashback multiple times
  • you must spend the £300+ in one transaction
  • online purchases do not appear to count, although it is obviously worth registering just in case if you are making a purchase

Earning Avios is a bit of a faff, unfortunately.  You need to be a member of the free Hackett 65B club.

If you are not already a member, you can join via this page of the Hackett website.

Membership is free.  You need to add your British Airways Executive Club or Iberia Plus number to your Hackett 65B club profile.

As long as you give your 65B membership number in the shop, Avios will automatically be deposited into your account.  You don’t need to give your Avios details each time you purchase.

The list of Hackett stores is here.

The Grove is a great LHW option near London – for those looking for alternatives to Coworth Park or Four Seasons Hampshire.

    • Manya says:

Thanks for pointing this out. Have been looking for a reason to revisit the Grove after getting married there.

      • Rob says:

It’s not on the list is it?

        • Manya says:

Just checked, it is on the list of participating locations shown on the Amex site.

          • Rob says:

Oooh … apologies, either I missed it yesterday or the list has been updated.

  • TGLoyalty says:

Don’t what it is about our profiles but no LHW offer this time nor the last time this was run last year across any cards.

My plat hasn’t been targetted for the Hyatt or Amex travel offer either, though I do have Harrods and lots of others…ah well one reason to have a selection of live cards

    • Harry T says:

Yeah, I don’t have LHW offer either, and we have a lot of cards and supps in our household! Least we have four Hyatt offers.

  • Kevin D says:

Is the Hyatt deal “book” by 31st August or ‘stay” by 31st August?

    • mzb00 says:

It’s “get your card charged by 31st of August”. In practice it’s stay by, but if you can get the hotel to pre-charge the card then it should work.

    • Nick G says:

Book, stay and pay the conditions say…..

  • Tony says:

Likewise no LHW offer and Hyatt only on one card. However also got a 50 off 250 spend at Hotel du Vin

  • RussellH says:

FWIW I have Hotel du Vin on two cards.

I also had a banner on my new Gold Credit Amex saying click here to get 3 MR pts per £1 at Sainsbury’s. Clicking took me to my list of 55 offers on my Rewards Amex. No such offer to be seen. Not on the Gold card either (only two offers so far – had the card just a week.

    • Clive says:

You might need to have a Sainsbury Nectar card for this. I have and was told I get the additional MR points for all Amex Gold spend in Sainsbury’s until a date in June. I’ve shopped but not checked my statement yet.

  • Lou says:

Booked a trip to Manchester, with the AMEX offer, that’s 75/night for with breakfast at the Regency. Nice!

    • Lou says:

The city trips, UK-edition, is going to be in full swing
