The HfP chat thread – Thursday 27th May

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.  At this tricky time, and given that many of you are at home, we want the HfP community to have a place to chat.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

Hi guys. The wife has had her Amex Platinum for 3 months now and sucked all the MR points she can out of it. Whats the best and easiest way to cancel and get pro-rata annual fee refund?

Have heard about this before, need to try it next time I am in London.

Mostly I just end up going to Westfield (White City) – probably not the cheapest but closer to where I need to be when I am in London…

        • TGLoyalty says:

It’s likely even this might be cheaper.

There can be some great spots depending on where you need to be and when

          • Bill says:

I used just park in Liverpool for a week. Everything was fine and alot cheaper than other options

    • John says:

If it’s just overnight most of the side streets are free and you won’t be the nicest car

  • r* says:

If I upgrade one leg of a cash booking using avios and then later had to turn it into an FTV, what happens to the avios part of the booking? Do they get refunded and just the cash booking goes to voucher or are the avios tied up in the voucher too?
