News in brief:

Get VIP hospitality to England v Pakistan with Hilton

Hilton Honors is auctioning two VIP packages for the England v Pakistan IT20 cricket game on Tuesday 20th July. This takes place at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester.

The packages include, for two people:

  • reserved seating in Stand E
  • access to the balcony viewing area
  • access to the Century Lounge, including a two-course buffet lunch and complimentary beer, house wine and soft drinks

The current bid is 60,000 Hilton Honors points. I would value 60,000 points at around £200 which makes the deal excellent value, although I would expect the auction to push the price higher.

You can bid here.

The reason that Hilton gets access to these packages is because the big red building below overlooking the ground is a Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Save £200 on an easyJet Holiday with American Express

American Express has launched a new cashback offer with easyJet Holidays.

If you are targetted for this offer it will show under the ‘Offers’ tab on your online statement page or in the Amex app. You need to click ‘Save to Card’ to activate.

The deal gets you £200 cashback on a £1,000+ booking with easyJet Holidays. Your payment needs to be processed by 31st August.

The offer is limited to the first 15,000 people to save it to their card. Flights must depart from UK airports, but apart from that there is no onerous small print.

Get €60,000 cashback with American Express …..

If we’re honest, any French holders of American Express cards will be laughing at les rosbifs and their paltry £200 cashback deal with easyJet Holidays.

In France, they like to go big.

This deal is currently available to American Express Platinum cardholders in France:

I’d love to know how many platinum holders have a 400,000 € credit limit.

    • Danny says:

none. platinum is a charge card, there isn’t a credit limit! 🙂

      • TGLoyalty says:

There’s still a credit limit as such. There’s a checker on your Amex account to see if they will let a transaction of £x go thorough

  • James says:

Can the easyJet promo work just on flights or does it have to be a full holiday package ?

    • Lady London says:

It will be hols only. EJ did a big push into hols just before covid hit. This was driven by their new CEO who had come from the holiday side of the travel business.

  • mikescores says:

    Hello All
Can you please help with two questions (I called BA CS and the lady didn’t know). (1) When booking 2-4-1 flights, can I add a hotel booking in the same way as for a cash flight ?
Can I use a FTV to pay the taxes etc on the 2-4-1 booking and, if so, can i do it online?
    Thanks all, as always

    • Rob says:

      1. No
      2. Only if it was issued for an Avios flight in the first place

      • mikescores says:

        Many thanks Rob.
Forgive the supplementary question : is it the case that we probably should either ensure the hotel booking is refundable/ cancellable or at least leave it to nearer the time (end Feb 2022 ).

        • Rob says:

I think prepaying any sort of hotel booking is slightly crazy, especially as – because the place you’re going is likely to be Amber or Red at the moment – you won’t be insured if you still can’t travel.

If your destination goes Green List then prepaying is a little less risky because your insurance may pay if it subsequently goes Amber/Red and you can’t travel.
