There is good news for readers who have been missing their British Airways regional lounges. Three sites are due to reopen on Monday.

There is also news on what is happening at Newcastle and Manchester.

From Monday, priority boarding will also return.

British Airways Aberdeen lounge still closed

From Monday, this is the position outside Heathrow:

Aberdeen Airport

The British Airways lounge, pictured above, reopens on Monday.

Belfast City Airport

After a break, British Airways passengers can once again access the Aspire lounge in the airport.

Edinburgh Airport

The British Airways lounge reopens on Monday.

Glasgow Airport

The British Airways lounge reopens on Monday.

Jersey Airport

After a break, British Airways passengers can once again access the independent lounge in the airport.

British Airways Galleries Lounge London Gatwick Airport South Terminal

London Gatwick Airport

The British Airways lounges, above, in the South Terminal are still closed, with the few remaining BA flights departing from the North Terminal. It is unclear if British Airways will resume services from London Gatwick or not (see this article) due to the need to protect landing and take-off slots at Heathrow.

Manchester Airport

The British Airways lounge is permanently closed. This article has a few photographs of the British Airways Manchester lounge if you want a reminder of how it was.

British Airways passengers are now using the Escape lounge in Terminal 1.

Newcastle Airport

The British Airways lounge is permanently closed and has already been stripped out.

The oneworld website, before it was taken down, was recently showing the Aspire lounge as being available for British Airways passengers. We do not know when this arrangement will start.

Which British Airways lounges are open at London Heathrow?

The current situation at Heathrow will be unchanged from Monday as far as we know:

  • Galleries Club South and Galleries Club North are open at peak times
  • Galleries First is open at all times, with Business Class passengers being allowed to use it when Galleries Club South and North are closed
  • The Concorde Room (pictured above, before BA sold off the artwork!) is closed but a temporary lounge for ticketed First Class passengers and qualifying Gold Guest List members has opened on the terrace of Galleries First
  • Galleries Club in the ‘B’ satellite remains closed

The lounge in Terminal 3 is also closed, as is the entire terminal, along with the Terminal 5 Arrivals Lounge. Whilst Terminal 3 reopens on Thursday, there are no plans for British Airways to return at this point.

Now we just need BA to start paying for / opening lounges abroad as well. The ground crew at MEX were very insistent I complain about them not having a lounge as apparently they get a tonne of abuse for it…

  • Mark Phillips says:

Is there a lounge at Inverness?

  • Andrew says:

And great news that priority boarding is back too!

    • Kevin B says:

I’m not so sure. My last three trips I have travelled short-haul club and yes you have to wait until the end to board, but you get off first which is more important and it is so much more civilised having everyone staying in their seats until their row number is called.

    • PlaneSpeaking says:

Agreed on priority boarding but I wonder how long it will take out stations to be aware or even how they handle it as the process seems to be different everywhere. We had a flight back from LCA a couple of weeks ago. Families with kids first along with anyone with mobility issues so they all queued up on the airbridge. Then the announcement that we’d be boarded from rear rows to front rows in order but this wouldn’t apply to Gold, Silver or Bronze who could board at any time. You can imagine what happened next and then we all stood in close proximity to each other on the airbridge!

  • Aaron C says:

Total joke that there are hardly any lounges outside of the U.K. open to BA. It seems to be a cost cutting thing.

  • Tim Tinsley says:

It would appear that at the moment BA plan to switch back to Gatwick South on the 1st August. They are currently flying to Antigua for example from Gatwick, and this switches from north to south on that date.

  • Martin says:

    Hi!
Whilst in the subject of lounges. My Gold Amex is due to charge me 140 any day now. I’m due to fly out 9th August and wouldn’t mind using the 2 free lounge passes. If I felt that way inclined, could I cancel after my holiday and get a pro rata refund still? Cheers!

  • John Gallagher says:

Anyone know if a BA lounge is open in Ibiza?
If so are they allowing entrance to BA Silver card holders travelling in economy?

  • Paul says:

I might have missed it, is the Arrivals Lounge open at T5?
