Hyatt adds more Small Luxury Hotels to the World of Hyatt programme

World of Hyatt partnered with Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) back in 2018.  The tie-up allows World of Hyatt members to book SLH properties via hyatt.com, and get exclusive benefits for doing so, and redeem their World of Hyatt points with SLH.

A further batch of SLH hotels was added this week. These are:

Hyatt adds more Small Luxury Hotels to the World of Hyatt programme

Elsewhere Hyatt has added:

  • Auberge de Cassagne Spa in Le Pontent Avignon, France
  • Bergwelt Grindelwald – Alpine Design Resort in Grindelwald, Switzerland
  • Breidenbacher Hof in Dusseldorf
  • Ca’ di Dio in Venice
  • Gaia Riverlodge in Cayo District, Belize
  • Hotel La Roya in Saint-Florent, France
  • Hotel Raphael in Paris
  • Itzana Resort & Residences in Placencia, Belize
  • La Torre del Canonigo in Ibiza
  • Les Bories in Gordes en Provence
  • Le Domaine d’Ablon in Ablon, France
  • L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa in Mahé, Seychelles
  • Matachica Resort & Spa in Ambergris Caye, Belize
  • M/Y Kontiki Wayra – Kontiki Expeditions in Manta, Ecuador
  • The American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem
  • The Grady in Louisville, Kentucky
  • Villa Soligo in Farra di Soligo, Trevosi, Italy
  • White Coast Pool Suites in Milos, Greece
  • Wilder Townhouse in Dublin, Ireland

A full list of all UK Small Luxury Hotels bookable via Hyatt is in this article.

As well as being able to redeem your World of Hyatt points at these properties, you will get special benefits when staying at a Small Luxury Hotels property.  When – and only when – you book via hyatt.com you will get:

  • Complimentary continental breakfast
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Early check-in 12:00pm (based on availability)
  • Late check-out 2:00pm (based on availability)
  • Room upgrade to the next category up (based on availability)

Interestingly, having status in World of Hyatt isn’t worth anything at SLH hotels except for a status bonus on the points you earn.  The benefits are fixed.  You will earn 5 base World of Hyatt points for every $1 spent.

It’s just a shame that World of Hyatt points are so difficult to earn if you live in the UK.  There are only a modest number of Hyatt properties in major business cities in Europe, there is no UK credit card and they are not an American Express Membership Rewards partner.

Don’t forget your American Express cashback

American Express is currently offering £100 cashback on a £300 spend at selected Small Luxury Hotel properties before 30th September.

Nothing stops you booking via the Hyatt website, to get the benefits above, as long as you book a ‘pay on departure’ rate.  Not all of the hotels above are taking part in the offer, so check the list on the American Express website if you are targetted for the deal.

I’m sure it’s not the last call for the AMB offer – they must be so desperate for members that another offer will be on the back of this one.

  • SSR BAQ says:

Hyatt App seems to not be showing my upcoming bookings- but it was, anyone else having this issue?

  • Jonathan says:

I agree they robbed me of my last voucher that expired when we were in lockdown. Only extended it for a few months when we were still in lockdown. And the rules and scope of use of this scheme is fairly limited.

    • Rich says:

I just kept emailing them and they kept extending it for another 3 months. I’m finally using one that originally expired in august 20 next month.

  • Sarju Mistry says:

I did sign up for this back in June but did not receive an email or notification on my account for the weekend weekend night. I did ring customer services and it looks like that is the only way to book. Bit of a pain to book the free Amabsaador night. The additional 40.000 night stay is on my account though.

    • Dubious says:

I found that the voucher would not show in the IHG app but could be seen on the website.

  • Reney says:

You only get the 40k free night if you take a qualifying night in one of the more expensive brands. If you end up going out of the way create a qualify stay then I would add that to the cost.

I have the Chase US IHG card that comes with a free 40k night every year. I don’t think they are that easy to use given the value based redemption chart. I feel like I have to work really hard to find somewhere to use them!

  • Justin says:

Have finally taken out IC Ambassador membership and staying at the Park Lane next weekend to trigger the free night – was supposed to be the IC O2 but that was a massive cock up.

Do you think the Free Night, Weekend BOGOF and IHG Rewards credit card Free Night can be combined? Have some stays coming up (hopefully) that would be nice to reduce some costs on.

    • David says:

You could combine them as a 3 night stay, but would have to book the Ambassador stay in the lowest room category, which is what the free night will get you. Park Lane will give you an upgrade to at least the next category up. We stayed there last week on reward nights and were given a double upgrade.

    • Lyn says:

You can combine them. Exactly how this works would depend on the hotel. You would of course have to have to include a paid Friday or Saturday night, booked at the AMB rate, followed by the AMB free weekend night.

You should ask the hotel to link all your bookings. If your AMB bookings are for higher than a standard room or include Club Lounge access, you can’t necessarily expect the hotel to extend those to the free nights, although it is possible they may do that. Or they may offer you a discounted rate for an upgrade or lounge access for the free nights. Or indeed just expect you to change rooms.

  • David says:

I have been an Ambassador for years and have had some excellent stays in consequence. If you book the highest standard room category they invariably upgrade to a suite (we were given the presidential suite in Vienna). One quirk of the free night certificate is that it is the second night that is free, so a Friday/Saturday night stay will usually save you more than Saturday/Sunday (Sunday usually being a cheaper night than Friday and Saturday). Also, if you stay more than 2 nights, the hotel may try to give the cheapest night as the free night rather than the second night.

    • Justin says:

David, in the T&Cs the ambassador benefits are not applicable on discounted rates. Have you ever found any issues?

  • Paul says:

I am thinking about joining but am a bit concerned about the opt out of the so-called GUARANTEED benefits. How guaranteed is the upgrade and late check-out if the hotel has an option to dump 10000 points to you? What rights do you have to challenge a claim that they “can’t provide” the benefit? These are the only two benefits that really interest me in the programme. I welcome thoughts from experienced members and travellers using this scheme.

    • Harry T says:

To be honest, I think the higher quality hotels will honour the benefits and likely go beyond them. For example, I’ve stayed at the Amstel twice (cash bookings) and always been upgraded from the basic room to a river view junior suite (it’s bigger than most suites I’ve stayed in). They always honour 4pm checkout too. Conversely, I was not upgraded at the IC Sydney which, aside from a great club lounge and the views, is an underwhelming hotel.
