There are strong rumours tonight that American Express is about to launch a £200 dining credit for The Platinum Card holders.

You will receive 100% back when you spend at participating restaurants, up to a cumulative £200. Centurion cardholders will receive a £400 credit.

The offer will run from tomorrow until the end of 2021.

EDIT Wed AM: This offer is now live and you can add it via the ‘Offers’ section of your card.

The participating restaurants are here.

If you’re in London, you’re laughing. The list of restaurants is simply outstanding, from 3-star Michelin restaurants through to more casual groups such as The Ivy.

The Ivy Harrogate is pictured above – there are a fair number of non-London restaurants included although there do seem to be big geographic gaps.

There are over 1,000 participating restaurants across 15 countries. Here is a random London selection for the letter ‘B’:

  • Bagatelle
  • Balthazar
  • Bar des Pres
  • Bluebird
  • Benares
  • Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill
  • Bob Bob Ricard
  • Brasserie Zedel
  • Bread Street Kitchen
  • Butlers Wharf Chophouse

…. and that is just ‘B’.

Full details should be released on Wednesday, but you can look at the restaurant list here.

    This is targeted.
My wife did not have the offer.
Phoned and asked for it. Was refused.
She’s had Plat for 2+ years as sole cardholder. Though had not used it recently.

    • Matthew Bell says:

I just got a card today and got the offer added via the app through the chat function

      • Steven says:

+1. Surprised at how easy it was. No push back at all.

        • Pat says:

Same. I applied for the card the day after the offer was announced. Received the card on Tuesday and was able to add the offer

  • Joe says:

Have taken out a personal plat for my partner, mainly for the 60k bonus (I already hold the business one, and plan to keep hold of it for the foreseeable). However, I’m curious over the wording in the T&Cs of Amex General Offers. They clearly mention: “If your Card is suspended or cancelled, we will not award statement credits or points to you, even if you have met the offer spend conditions.”

So with that said, when I cancel her plat once we hit the £6k bonus (currently moving house so this will be eaten up in no time in furniture costs, appliances etc) – could Amex potentially reverse the £200 dining credit, since the card was ‘cancelled’ after using the offer?

The wording is pretty poor, would appreciate any insight from others in the forum!
