American Express has launched a new wave of hotel cashback deals. Whatever you are planning this Autumn, you are likely to find a deal for you.

As usual, these offers may or may not appear somewhere on your American Express account. You need to look under the ‘Offers’ tab for every Amex card you hold, and ‘Save’ those offers which you want to use.

Here are the new deals:

Get £100 back on £250 spend at Hyatt

  • This offer expires on 31st December
  • It is an excellent deal, obviously, and will be even better if Hyatt lanches a generous Autumn promotion. It covers selected European countries only. I am 100% certain to be taking advantage of this offer given the scale of the discount and the great properties included.
  • Remember that you can get an even better deal if you book via Hyatt Prive, which gets you free breakfast, a guaranteed upgrade and a hotel food and drink credit. Learn about Hyatt Prive here.

Get £50 back on £200 spend at Marriott

  • This offer expires on 28th February 2022
  • All of the hotels are in Europe

Get £30 back on £100 spend at Thistle

  • This offer expires on 31st December

Get £60 back on £200 spend at Hard Rock Hotel London, The Clermont, Guoman

  • This offer expires on 31st December
  • It covers (all in London) the two The Clermont hotels (ex-Amba), Amba Marble Arch, The Tower at St Katherine Docks, Great Cumberland Place, The Royal Horseguards, Hard Rock Hotel London.

The following existing Amex hotel cashback deals are still running (I haven’t included the very long list of deals which are expiring this month):

    The offer terms for Paul (10% off) don’t mention anything about country or currency.
    Do we have any history on whether for such chains it works outside the UK (using Amex involves paying an additional 3%)
    Annoyingly it expires just before I will get to a city with a Paul to test it in October.

      Given that it is based on Amex checking a list of shop codes for every participating store, you should assume it is UK only. Actually used mine yesterday and am eagerly expected 32p back from a loaf of bread!

      I’d be blown away if it pays out automatically. Given the ambiguity in the terms, they’d probably roll over if you complained but quite a bit of effort for a net 7% rebate on a sandwich.

    Just logged in to the web Amex site to see the list of eligible Hyatt hotels and noticed it says “Book, stay and pay by 31 December”. Is there no way an advance pay booking by 31 December (and the transaction hitting your account) will trigger the rebate or do Amex get data on the stay date as they do flight bookings?

      If the hotel will take your money in advance (and not all advance bookings result in your card being charged in advance) then it will trigger.

      Hyatt doesn’t talk to us, so probably not. The cost of funding it ourselves vs the reader interest is not great especially as it isn’t in the city centre.

    Can’t choose between the Regency Churchill or the Scotland Yard hotel to take advantage of the Hyatt promo, does anyone have any tips that could swing it please? Location of both seems fine, got a feeling the SY is newer?

      We reviewed GSY last week. Never been inside a room at the Regency despite a few conferences there so can’t really comment, but it certainly hasn’t seen a lick of paint for a while (except for the bits that burnt down a couple of years ago).

        GSY is a nice property. The whisky bar looks great but currently closed.

      GSY is better by reputation. I haven’t tried the Churchill but I was impressed by GSY.
