  Does anyone have hotel recommendations? Flex on budget and not fussed about chain/status. Ideally close to Table Mountain with some decent outside space. Seem to recall a good review of The Churchyard, or maybe Vineyard a couple of years ago?

    I’m also going early Feb. Can’t say I’ve heard of the two you mention. I’m guest housing it this time around, stayed at The Townhouse hotel in central CT in 2016 which was perfectly fine but no outside space. Don’t know if you’ve been before or not but can well recommend the hop on tourist bus for sheer ease of getting to all the spots. It’s so cheap and well run.

    The Vineyard hotel is lovely and has a really nice pool and beautiful gardens, but it isn’t near to Table mountain or the waterfront. The guest house we have stayed in is now closed but If you aren’t too bothered about staying in the suburbs, the Banksia boutique hotel is very nice.

      Worked well for UK friends & family who attended our wedding.

      Easier access to False Bay beaches like Muizenberg & Fish Hoek (incl Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach) than city locations, but with relatively quick access into town, V&A waterfront and Atlantic coast venues like Camps Bay along the M3. You’ll need a car in Cape Town.

      Only downside I can see is Vineyard Hotel is independent, so no loyalty points, but otherwise lovely family-run hotel a stone’s throw away from Newlands Cricket Ground.

      Cape Town is magic all year round, but best UK winter escape time is mid-Jan (after schools are back) to end Feb if you can travel outside of school terms.

    The vineyard is beautiful. Rooms a bit dated but the setting and broader Hotel is amazing and while you’re not on the doorstep of the V&A, beaches etc you have Constantia with its vineyards and fantastic restaurants to enjoy

  Any sign VS might add Christmas capacity to Cape Town in the coming weeks? Only seem to resume flights in Jan currently.

  Probably far too ‘cheap’ for people on here but I really loved the new Radisson Red just up from the V&A. Cool hotel with interesting set up and modern decor, walkable into the old city as well as the waterfront, next to a really cool art gallery, and easy access anywhere else I wanted to go. Downside is that it made me feel very old!

  Loft rooms at the Protea Victoria Junction are my favourite place to stay. Basically an apartment with a mezzanine level with the bedroom on.
