Introducing …. BA Euroflyer

It seems that the legal entity behind the new British Airways low cost operation at London Gatwick will be called BA Euroflyer.

Papers incoporating BA Euroflyer Ltd were filed at Companies House yesterday.

Interesting, the lead director is Tom Stoddart who is also, although perhaps not for much longer, Managing Director of BA CityFlyer.

Win a prize for Aer Lingus AerClub’s 5th birthday event

The Aer Lingus loyalty programme, AerClub, is five years ago.

To celebrate, it is running an online ‘Birthday Bonanza’ game for members. Prizes include:

• flights to Ireland
• up to 100,000 Avios
• AerClub Silver membership (you couldn’t stretch to Gold?!)
• Avis car hire
• Marriott Bonvoy gift cards

The only way to enter is via the personalised link emailed to you by Aer Lingus. If you think you should have had one, search your spam for an email with the header ‘Take part in our 5th Birthday Bonanza for a chance to win!’.

At the very least, it seems you win a £40 discount code off an Aer Lingus long-haul flight from Manchester to Orlando, New York or Barbados. The game closes on 21st November.

British Airways moves Dallas Fort Worth to an A380

Slightly later than originally rumoured, British Airways is now showing Dallas Fort Worth as operated by an A380 from the end of March.

The flight is currently served by a Boeing 787.

If you read HfP yesterday you may remember that there is a lot going on in Dallas. Both Finnair and Iberia have just announced flights for Summer 2022 as well.

The justification is that Dallas is an American Airlines hub and so there will be a lot of feeder traffic in both directions. This doesn’t explain why Iberia, Finnair and British Airways are adding capacity at the same time in what is clearly a co-ordinated move.

Earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points on a luxury cruise

Marriott Bonvoy has announced that The Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection has joined the programme.

The company is due to launch in May 2022.

Evrima, the first yacht from The Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection, is due to visit the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Central America and South America. As a smaller vessel (190 metres long, 149 suites) it can visit locations such as Saint-Tropez, Ibiza and St. Barts which are usually off limits to cruise ships.

Benefits for Marriott Bonvoy members include:

• EARNING: five points per $1 spent on the base cruise fare
• REDEEMING: you can redeem an initial 180,000 points toward a $1,000 savings on the cruise fare, and in increments of 90,000 points thereafter
• ELITE CREDIT: you will receive one elite night credit per night on board
• AMBASSADOR: cruise fare will be applied toward the annual qualifying spend for members looking for Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador Elite status
• ONBOARD: there will be a welcome reception for all Marriott Bonvoy members on each cruise

We tend to value a Marriott Bonvoy point at 0.5p, so the redemption isn’t the greatest deal if I’m honest at around 0.41p. It isn’t t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e value though.
