Booking a points holiday in Mallorca – which is usually exceptional value given how expensive hotels get in July and August – will be a lot easier next year.

Hilton has signed an agreement to open Hilton Mallorca Galatzo in Summer 2022.

It is described as a five-minute drive from the popular beaches of Paguera, on the Costa de la Calma.

I think – and this is not confirmed by Hilton – that this is a reflag of the Galatzo Hotel Mallorca. This hotel previously operated as a Maritim, and indeed if you visit their website you will still see the Maritim logo in your browser tabs.

The good news is that the hotel has had “substantial refurbishments to elevate the property’s interiors and facilities” since its Maritim days.

To quote:

“Set out over 54,000 square meters of perfectly presented gardens, the hotel will boast three swimming pools and two pool bars, ensuring guests are never far from a cool drink and a dip in the pool to complement the warm Balearic climate. The hotel’s lobby is also set to include a bar leading to an expansive outdoor terrace, and guests will be able to enjoy a variety of culinary options at the resort, including from the hotel’s two distinct dining experiences.

With relaxation and rejuvenation in mind, Hilton Mallorca Galatzo will offer a 1,500-square-meter spa and wellness centre, complete with six treatment rooms and a variety of packages to suit all guests. With a sauna, jacuzzi, sensation showers and more, those looking to recharge themselves will have plenty of options. In addition to these wellness facilities, the hotel offers a fitness centre as well as multiple tennis courts.

Hilton Mallorca Galatzo

Hilton Mallorca Galatzo will be located less than a five-minute drive from the hugely popular beaches of Paguera, whilst world-class golf courses such as Santa Ponsa and T Golf, Mallorca’s capital city Palma and Palma de Mallorca Airport are all a short drive away. The hotel will be ideally located for access to many of Mallorca’s best attractions, keeping guests at the centre of the action and providing a welcome oasis to relax and enjoy.”

Was going to be a new tower for the existing Le Meridian. A good addition to the Mina Seyahi area of hotels.

  • RussellH says:

Is this not the second ex-Maritim hotel to move to one of the big US chains in the last week or so?
I had thought that Maritim owned all its hotels, but checking the website I see that they do have a hotel management business – for hotels outwith Germany – as well.
And given the references to refurbishment in the article, I wonder if the hotels were not prepared to refurbish to Maritim standards?
Back in my tour-operating days, the vast majority of UK TOs to Germany were always happiest when we stayed at a Maritim paid for by Germany Travel, rather than any of the other chains.

Stayed in this hotel back in 2015. It’s been generally a nice experience, but the location is not ideal to get to the restaurants and the beach

I had a quick overnight at DUS many years back. Options were the Sheraton or – for half the price – the Maritim. I went with the latter and it was superb.

However, in Mallorca we always found the room discount and free food for kids a brilliant bonus at the old Hilton. Kids are older now but if they keep that deal and you have under 12s it might well be worth checking out.
