The HfP chat thread – Thursday 18th November

Links on Head for Points may pay us an affiliate commission. A list of partners is here.

We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

goat an Amex platinum which I applied before November 2nd with a 60k points welcome bonus. Double-checked and it appears my previous amex card was canceled in march 2020, less than 24 months ago, seems no bonus for me.

Here is the question, perhaps a bit naive: assuming I create a new online account while activating a card, how does Amex know I had a card with them within the last 24 months?

Just tried to book 5 nights in a hilton in Atlanta on points – it is not showing any 5 for 4 discount…..is there something I’m missing?? I thought it made the 20% off deduction automatically?

I am Diamond and logged in and all the 5 nights are available on points

Good morning all. Can you confirm if Flight changes of return leg are free (subject to price changes) on BA and BA tickets in AA metal even if after taking the outward leg?
