  I used to live 5 minutes from the Hilton in Maidstone, it felt a bit run down as of late anyway, the reception area is nice and the pool was always busy, but the rooms were tired. The area nearby was redeveloped with an M&S and Next, but it’s still a bit out of the way. The Mercure Great Danes and the Marriott Tudor Park are both nicer hotels, albeit even further out of town. Hotel selections in the town centre are quite limited, a rather garish Travelodge (locally nicknamed the toilet rolls) sits by the river, a slightly nicer Premier Inn just up the road. Not that I imagine anybody actually wants to visit Maidstone for pleasure these days, the town (which has a massive prison slap bang in the middle) has deteriorated like many.
  I see the Hilton’s closed from Christmas Eve until the new year anyway, would be interested to see what it reopens as.

    if the Marriott Tudor Park is better it must be bad.
    We stayed there for a few days recently and although the rooms were reasonable the food was appalling, to the extent that they knocked it off the bill.
    Hampton Canterbury was much better and cheaper!

  Are IHG really going to have a week long sale that starts tomorrow (my email says it lasts from 26th Nov to 3rd December) that has a different offer within it?

    My information in regard to IHG are, that is will be just a 25% off sale till summer next year. But it might be one Black Friday and one for Cyber Monday. The dates are the same as mentioned by ChrisC for the sale.

    I heard to other rumors as well, so they are not completely out of the blue …

  In the current hospitality industry crisis, if IHG base any new bonus points offer(s) on the basis of their last one’s, which don’t kick in until a 2nd stay, then, IMHO, they really have lost the plot!

    Even pre-pandemic the Maidstone Hilton was poor and represented the worst of the Hilton (itself, and within the wider group) brand being very tired and not offering much of a quality experience.

  Glasgow Grosvenor following the path of Edinburgh Grosvenor which left Hilton not so long ago.

  Both hotels felt tired in my opinion so unsurprising.

    As far as I can tell they were only named Grosvenor because they both happen to be on a road named Grosvenor

  The Arundel on is nice in parts (the outdoor pool is pleasant) but mainly tired and room do not meet general Hilton standards. Main issue is the duel carriageway being built across the golf course on the property and very close to some of the rooms.

  We stayed at the Arundel one this summer. Was ok. Usual Hilton faculties. Kids enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools. Never got around to walking the grounds. We were upgraded to a suite so the kids had their beds in the lounge area.
