(SOLD OUT) easyJet launches a £695 advent calendar – and it’s probably worth the money

Whilst my children have been badgering me for a cheap chocolate-filled advent calendar from the supermarket, you may want to splash out on something a little more luxurious for yourself.

easyJet may have the answer. Take a look here.

easyJet has launched what it is calling an ‘Advent(ure) Calendar’. There are 12 drawers, each containing special travel treats.

The project will raise funds for Age UK.

Whilst costing £695, easyJet claims that the contents are worth over £1,500. This is potentially true and you could do even better.

You will receive:

  • four pairs of return flights for two including hold luggage – this could be very valuable as you seem to be getting virtually guaranteed availability
  • £45 to spend on easyJet’s onboard bistro
  • £75 of vouchers to spend on tours and excursions via ‘GetYourGuide’
  • A £50 car rental discount voucher

What is the small print on the flight redemptions?

There are very few restrictions, which makes it easier to get real value from this package. There are only three rules worth noting:

  • flights to Dalaman and Sharm el Sheikh are excluded
  • each pair of tickets cannot have a cash value of more than £750 (which gives you a huge amount of leeway, because even peak season easyJet flights rarely get beyond £375 return per person)
  • you cannot split a pairs of flights – each booking must be for two people who travel together (ie a solo traveller cannot have eight free flights)

The only thing that is not clear is if you can use two vouchers on the same flight for a family of four. This would technically break the rules on the buyer or recipient being a traveller on each voucher, although the buyer is ‘using’ the voucher and would be travelling. It also isn’t clear if pairs of flights could be gifted to different people.

All vouchers must be redeemed between 1st December 2021 and 31st December 2022.

The calendar is on sale now via this link where you can also find full terms and conditions. Quantities are described as ‘limited’ which is not surprising, given that 100% of your payment is going to Age UK.

Great idea easyJet….and helping out a very worthwhile charity…..but yet again solo travellers are excluded. Why can you not do a charity calendar for us solo travellers? Having worked for a charity where a lot of our service users were single due to the death of a partner, I understand the problems singles face on a daily basis

Does anybody know what happened to Andrew yesterday?

    • Andrew says:

I was still at #1 in the queue (presumably after the person ahead of me gave up) at 11pm so I gave up too.

Not getting a Black Friday deal – no big deal.
Letting people in the queue if you’re not going to end up serving them – not ideal.
Going home and abandoning customers waiting with no info – very 2-bit customer service.

      • Zara says:

Oh that’s awful I’m so sorry to hear that. I think this morning someone on hukd was saying it was an easier process but it’s such a shame after waiting over 5 hours. Wish I could help in some way.

  • Dawn says:

Would have bought it but Dalaman is excluded unfortunately and that’s my only real Easy Jet destination as my house is 15 minutes from the airport 🙁

  • aDifferentSimon says:

#30 in queue, 230 minutes approx wait time. Hahaha

    Singletons screwed over again.

Age UK do a lot of work to eradicate business practices which discriminate against those who have lost a partner and are now single…….

  • Rachel says:

Managed to get in the queue by about 8:50, completed purchase by 9:40.

    • Tom says:

Wow, that’s a huge improvement on yesterday.
I was informed yesterday there were only 100 available for sale. I wonder if this was true now because I would have thought they’d sold them all yesterday if that were the case. Curious!

      • Zara says:

They told someone else they only have 100 too. But I think it may be true. If yesterday morning the payment system didn’t work and in the afternoon it took 20 mins per 2 ppl, then in 7 hours they won’t have filled the 100!

        • Lady London says:

It’s good news the payment system at Easyjet is not working, well in one way, at least.

IIRC an agent told me it can only do a certain number of transactions per day, think the number might have been 100,000, after which it stops working. Remember Easyjet sells across so many countries now.

Hopefully breaking the limit so the payment system is over capacity means Easyjet business is doing OK. So good news.

Ask the agent for a workround.

We must have been on chat at same time.. very happy.

Sorry to come to this late. Do you have to complete travel by December 2022 or book travel by that date?
