We are running this daily chat thread on Head for Points during the coronavirus outbreak.

Historically, the daily ‘Bits’ articles were the de facto repository for random comments and questions.  With the news flow being lighter, we are running fewer ‘Bits’ articles.

The comments under this article are where you should post questions about travel and, indeed, anything else on your mind.

Please only comment under the main articles on the site if your comment is directly related to the topic of the article.  This has long-term benefits as it keeps the commentary relevant for people who read those articles in the future.

Old chat threads are hidden from the HfP home page.  If you want to look for something in an old thread, click here.  This brings up all the articles in our ‘General’ category which includes the chat threads.

I’m landing tomorrow at 6am. PLF with LFT code has already been filed with, not looking forward to that conversation if they insist on a PCR. Anyone know the latest?

    • George K says:

I’m sure you’ll be fine. Official guidance says measures come in ‘next week’

      • mr_jetlag says:

thanks. News thread says 4am Tuesday (30th).

        • Scott says:

That would be typical seeing as I arrive at 12:35pm on Tues 😉

        • Polly says:

Hi, what lounge did you get into at Singapore? Checking what’s currently accessible.

          • mr_jetlag says:

Hi Polly, early check in is suspended, so am chilling at a cafe overlooking the Jewel waterfall. Will probably try to hit the Qantas Lounge for a shower before the 00:10 flight.

          • Lyn says:

Is the Qantas lounge open in Singapore at the moment?

    • Andrew says:

  • Tony says:

I flew BA Wednesday and Avios/Tier points have not been credited yet? Is the new system taking longer to credit?

    • ChrisC says:

There is still a backlog from the outage to post.

It is not a sign of a new normal.

    • CheshirePete says:

Yes our flights from last Saturday posted on Wednesday, so a few extra days. Also our upgrade to CE with Avios also posted as 40tp. Never seen that before, hopefully a new bug we should stay quiet about! Shhhh.

  • Pablo says:

Is it possible to get an e-voucher for a partially flown BA ticket?

  • derbydave says:

Continuing a late-last-night thread (thanks Travel Strong) – I checked my Nectar account too, received the 10000 points on 26 Nov, most of my £400 spend was fuel and that counted (I think fuel may have been excluded in T&Cs but I’m not the family shopper so couldn’t spend £400 in Sainsbury’s any other way!)

    Travel Strong says:
    27 November 23:01
Sainsburys bank offer a Nectar mastercard with a signup bonus when you spend £400 in Sainsbury’s/Argos/Etc in the first 2 months (was 10k, currently 8k). Just confirming that you can make up this spend in gift card purchases, inc. Sainsburys own gift cards.

  • Jonathan says:

Anyone aware of any Black Friday deals for Heathrow parking please?

  • Secret Squirrel says:

How long has AVIOS convert to nectar site been down?

    • Peter K says:

Some were saying (Friday?) that they had to relink the two accounts for transfers to happen.

      • Secret Squirrel says:

        Thanks Peter K 👍

      • Dave says:

Transfers seem down. I had to re-link to transfer Avios to Nectar on Wednesday, which works. If I try today it says online transfer from Avios to Nectar is not available.

  • GaryE says:

Hi – Have a BAH fully paid and booked for this Thursday to Tenerife – if we do not wish to travel due to concerns over the new variant and restrictions do we have the option of taking a FTV ? Thanks

    • James says:

I would say not unless restrictions are brought in which stop you from going

    • Anna says:

Have a look at the Ts and Cs, also you could try a dummy cancellation via the BA home page which will indicate whether you would be entitled to a FTV.

  • Jack says:

Morning, just wanted to double check there isn’t an open lounge for BA customers at Paris CDG? Seems the Cathay Pacific one is shut and no other alternative, but just wanted to check. Thanks in advance.

    • stevenhp1987 says:

No lounge. No alternative offered either.

    • Lyn says:

Unfortunately you are correct. The American Airlines lounge, which is usually the other alternative, is also still closed.
