British Airways has just announced the routes that it will be flying from London Gatwick for Summer 2022.

Tickets to 35 destinations have just been released at ba.com. If you want Avios seats for peak Summer dates then I recommend you book NOW.

Don’t rush to book cash tickets, as you may find that discounted prices don’t appear for a couple of days.

As a reminder, British Airways has decided to launch a new standalone airline to operate its short haul flights from London Gatwick. This won’t happen from Day 1 because BA is unable to get an Air Operators Certificate issued in time.

Flights will initially be operated by British Airways directly rather than the new BA Euroflyer business. Once BA Euroflyer launches, the flight crew and cabin crew will be on different contracts with poorer pay and conditions than their Heathrow counterparts.

To the customer, BA Euroflyer will look and feel exactly like a standard British Airways flight. There will be no difference in terms of baggage rules, seat selection, lounge access, food and drink etc.

Club Europe will be offered on the new Gatwick services.

I am assuming that the airline will be moving back to its home in the South Terminal although this has not been confirmed. ba.com does show Gatwick South as the operating terminal during the booking process.

Where can I fly on BA from Gatwick next Summer?

Gatwick operations will relaunch in late March with a grand total of three aircraft. This will ramp up to 18 aircraft by the end of May.

Because of the small number of aircraft being used, services are erratic – flight times move from day to day, and some routes are only served on certain days of the week. Amsterdam, for example, departs at 07.35 on 29th March, 16.00 on 30th March and then not at all on 31st March, 1st April, 2nd April, 3rd April or 4th April.

    We already have flights booked to Alicante on 13/4. Have been waiting for them to go back on sale so that another pax can join us, but looks like no flights on 13/4 yet.. wondering if we’re going to get another reschedule notification 🙈

    Holy smokes! I’ve just checked LGWFAO for August 2022 and it comes in at £691/pax return. When are the low-cost BA airline flights being loaded?

      Wow. BA will be making even more money than they ever used to with them having succeeded in getting the pilots (in particular) and all other staff into the new separate low-cost vehicle they created for Gatwick.

      It’s a low-cost vehicle …for British Airways. Not for customers.

        Only in line with what EJ, Ryanair, etc are already charging. Losses from last two years have to be clawed back and short haul flying will be sadly no longer be cheap

    A few observations:

    Berlin didn’t used to be a route from LGW for BA. From a quick look at BA.com there is a FRI-12-AUG-21 LGW to BER departure at 18:55 arriving at 22:00. There is a same day return from BER at 22:55 arriving at LGW at 00:00. So as previously reported no overnight stop away from LGW crew it seems is true. Giving a high utilization of the aircraft.

    Given the non-overnight stops for LGW crew there were previous comments on HfP about what would happen to BA flights to JERsey. As that typically has an overnight stop. I notice JERsey is not on the list of routes returning to LGW at the moment. From a quick check on ba.com that appears to be staying at LHR, for the time being. Flights are in the timetable up to November 2022 as operating LHR to JER.

      Only long enough to force workers with a Gatwick base, or who could be made to accept Gatwick as a base, onto poorer contracts in a new entity created so that BA could do that.

      As Rob said a long time ago when BA was salivating as Covid had finally given them a way to get rid of any remaining decent contracts for their cabin crew anywhere, BA hasn’t let a good crisis go to waste.

        I think you will find the pilots agreed, or perhaps the vote was rigged.
        Once again, a negative comment going back months and months.
        Nobody but nobody has to work for BAEuroflyer let alone be forced.

          Or work for anybody else. Would be pretty sure BA will not struggle for staff and going down the low cost route from Gatwick will shake out all the cosy relationships and set ups accumalated over many years so making them competitive with EJ in particular
          Nobody will get costs near Ryanair or Wizair but neither of them have many slots at Gatwick airport as they won’t pay the costs associated with operating from it.

    Have flights booked for 17th – 19th May LGW – VRN and just received a reschedule notification (VRN – LGW – evening flight cancelled and moved to morning flight). Ideally would prefer the 20th, but no option for this under manage my booking. Been on ba.com and no flights available to book on any dates to VRN. I am so confused. Any thoughts????
