IHG to open a luxury Six Senses beach resort in Dubai in 2024

We normally don’t bother running press releases about hotel openings which are due 2-3 years down the track, partly because the project is often cancelled and partly because the news isn’t much use until you can actually book.

I’ve made an exception here because the lack of beach resorts in Dubai in the IHG Rewards portfolio is a bugbear for many readers. The situation will ease when voco The Palm Dubai (website here) opens in July 2022, although this property appears to be part of a mixed retail / leisure complex.

For those looking for luxury, however, you will need to wait until 2024. IHG has just announced Six Senses The Palm Dubai.

Six Senses The Palm Dubai

This is going to be an odd project. It contains a small 60-room hotel alongside 162 branded villas and apartments. It’s clear that the hotel aspect is really just there to service the residential side and to allow it to charge a premium to the normal Dubai market.

That said, with a promised 60,000 square feet of amenities, it may be that you end up with a boutique hotel with exceptional facilities and a little used private beach. The promised spa and recreation facilities do sound impressive.

There’s nothing you can do with this news today, but it’s a project we’ll be keeping an eye on over the next couple of years. An image of the project is above.

This could be a handy way of achieving 3 SQ segments required to unlock Krisflyer Gold status via Shangri-la fast track offer for Jade members.

Most Amex platinum card holders should have had their Jade status extended until 31st December 2022, so plenty of time to sign up for Krisflyer fast track offer.

They fly Rome-Copenhagen as well, so you could do a little Europe tour

  • DSA says:

There appear to be at least two variations of the eBay offer. I have, “Get 500 points when you shop two times or more and spend £5+…” (within 2 weeks). This is still a reasonable offer, but clearly not as good as the example in the article.

    • Andrew says:

      Three.

I have the 1000pts for £5+ offer and 1000pts for two 5+ spends.

  • Alex Sm says:

Given that nowadays you often get 625 Avios for a cash flight priced at £200 or even more, the eBay deal is VERY good

Is SQ still doing Moscow – Stockholm? I always wanted to try it but never did…

    • CH says:

I did IAH-DME on SQ a number of years ago.

      • Nick says:

IAH-DME was changed to IAH-MAN and the DME flight continued to ARN instead.

        • SamG says:

Stockholm has been discontinued (possibly only temporarily but I don’t think it did that well pre-COVID)

  • fisker022 says:

Do you have to buy through the Nectar app or striaght from Ebay

  • fisker022 says:

Just looked at my Nectar offers I don’t see 1000points…

  • Colin says:

My offer is only 500 Pts for for spending £5+ two times

  • Lollyfry says:

I’ve got the eBay offer in my nectar app but when I click ‘visit website’ it goes to eBay but I’m not getting any kind of activation confirmation – is this right??
