News in brief:

Get 33% off Railcards

The Trainline is running a generous deal in association with Railcard.

Until 28th February, you can save a third on the purchase of any Railcard.

The only catch is that the offer only applies to Digital Railcards, and you need to make the purchase via The Trainline app. This is not hugely onerous, however.

Veterans and Disabled Persons Railcards are excluded due to issues over checking your credentials.

Full details of how to claim the offer can be found on The Trainline website here.

Details of the different Railcards available can be found on the Railcard website here but to get the 33% discount you need to follow the purchase route outlined on The Trainline site.

  • PGW says:

It’s important to be aware that you only need to hold the railcard at the time of travel and can book tickets at the discounted rate in advance and then purchase the card immediately before the travel date. No great advantage in redeeming this offer if you don’t have any up and coming travel plans.

    • Rob says:

Good point, this isn’t something I’d actually considered.

    • Yorkieflyer says:

True for online but not in station purchases, if anyone does that old timer thing anymore?

      • PGW says:

Yes-I should have included that point.

      • John says:

Not necessarily, they just need to trust that you will buy one by the time of travel (possible strictly against the rules though?)

  • Yorkieflyer says:

relevant to Horel loyalty schemes and possibly of wider interest so posting here, recieved email today from Radisson
    “Point expiration suspension:
The expiration of points is extended until June 30, 2022, for all members who had points expiring before this date.”

  • Sam M says:

I use my Tesco points to buy railcards.

    • John says:

I wish Avios could be converted to Tesco points (or Nectar partners with the RDG to offer railcards), it would be very good value even at the Nectar rate to get 2.4p per Avios.

    • CheshirePete says:

I was wondering if you can use this offer and still offset with the Tesco’s x3 value vouchers. I think the codes only work directly on the Railcard website, however.

    • Martin says:

Again the Veterans one is not included with Tesco unfortunately

  • Michael C says:

Anyone filled in the faffy form to see if it works for 3-yr family cards?!

  • Rhino40 says:

Can my 14 year old daughter travel using the family railcard on her own?

  • Terry says:

All tickets are using the card have to be bought via the Trainline app?

  • old codger says:

No discount on the Senior railpass.

You can buy from Railcard.co.uk and have BOTH a paper AND Digital card! Great for not having to suck up the juice or space on your phone.

  • David says:

Can anyone get this to save in the trail line app?

I can open the railcard in the trainline app from the email confirmation link, but it’s not accessible in the app.

Have to always follow the link from the original email.

    Terrible experience.
