Qatar Airways rolls out Diptyque amenity kits

Qatar Airways has upgraded its onboard product significantly with the roll out of Diptyque amenity kits to business and first class passengers. The new kits, which come in three versions, are a big step up from the BRIC and Castello Monte Vibiano Vecchio it has used since 2019 and rival Etihad’s luxurious Acqua di Parma kits.

The kits come either in a small square unisex gift box (photo below) or a similarly sized black pleather pouch for men and a white and black clutch for women. Both contain lip balm, body lotion, face cream, eyemask, socks and Diptyque’s Eau Rose or ‘34 Boulevard Saint Germain’ eau de toilette.

For now, Qatar is only guaranteeing the new kits on select routes, including flights to the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and A380 services from London and Paris. That said, Rhys got the new amenity kits on three of four Qatar Airways flights on his trip to Thailand earlier this month so they are clearly being loaded more widely.

He described the kits as ‘seriously impressive’ and one of the best he had ever received, with ‘very generously sized’ creams.

Last year Qatar rolled out Diptyque toiletries in onboard toilets and in lounges so the arrival of the amenity kits completes the rollout.

Just booked Dub-Lhr-las for Christmas. £600 for premium economy seemed like a good deal. You could get economy flights 23-30th for as little as £320 though. Happy to do some positioning flights and use the saved cash for a nicer hotel in vegas.

Dublin has been good for OneWorld deals recently – SFO and LAX have been bookable on BA/AA for about €1500 euros per person return in business class. I booked a couple earlier this year for dates in August. I also made it a BA holiday by adding a single night in an airport hotel in Dublin for positioning (cost about 100 euros extra, which was much cheaper than booking the hotel directly).

Booked DUB-LHR-JFK-SFO and return for July a couple of weeks ago for € 1,475 including a night at the LHR Thistle before the LHR-JFK-SFO

Good luck with the Thistle, its sh!te.

        Tier point run?
Using the nice transcontinental cabin on AA?

Not sure I’d have the strength for doing that the long way via NY…unless it was a lot cheaper?

It’s actually fine if you pick the right flights. Adds 3-4 hours journey time but very comfortable way to travel & I find it gives you lots of options to arrive in LAX/SFO in the late evening thereby removing the temptation to go to bed too early.

How long do Avios normally take to post from Aer Lingus to BA?

  • PJJ says:

And if you are looking to do JFK on the CHEAP, Air France have a sale
CDG to JFK 26/8 out and return 31/8
    Economy HBO – £297

  • Richie says:

A321neo sounds a good option compared to a BA B772 that could be older than double a younger teenager.

  • Scott says:

I was looking at BOS with a car in Sept/Oct, and it’s coming in at over £2700 for 5 days and PE.
Flight is around £1k alone, with business being about £400 more.
So around £350/day for the smallest car going.

  • sam says:

looking at DUB- NYC at christmas and good value at about 1500E.
i was wondering about paying with avios – is that good value? what is the rate? sam

    • Rob says:

Similar to BA – use 1,000 or so and you get a decent deal, use 20,000 and the rate weakens massively.

However …. you may not want to do this. Part-pay with Avios requires you to move your Avios to an AerClub account (OK, easy enough). However, it also locks in an AerClub account number to your booking. You can probably change this later but if you definitely want your BAEC number in there then this route is not for you.

    • Lady London says:

Uh-oh. This could seriously damage QR award availability. Lucky’s pointed out all 3 US cards with the potential to flood demand via BA in particular now.

      • Lady London says:

And btw, how is BA protecting itself in this respect, as regards that other scheme linked to Sainsbo’s?
