Aer Lingus relaunches Philadelphia flights with more US routes to come

Aer Lingus is continuing to rebuild its long-haul network from Dublin with the (re)launch of flights to Philadelphia last week.

The airline has a lot more planned for the Summer 2022 season including:

  • Chicago gaining five additional weekly flights from last week
  • Los Angeles flights restarting from 12th May
  • Washington DC gaining an additional daily flight from 9th June
  • Seattle flights restarting from 7th July
  • Miami flights restarting from October – date TBC
Aer Lingus A330

You can currently connect to Aer Lingus US flights in Dublin via connections from Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Heathrow and Gatwick.

This will be boosted by new connections from:

  • Bristol – 15th April
  • Leeds Bradford – 15th April
  • Exeter – 29th April
  • Newquay – 29th April

A key benefit of flying to the United States from Dublin or Shannon is US Immigration Pre-clearance. All formalities are dealt with before you leave Ireland, allowing you to land on a domestic stand in the US and walk straight out of the airport.

You can earn and spend Avios on Aer Lingus flights but you cannot yet earn British Airways Executive Club tier points. This situation will change as soon as Aer Lingus joins the BA / AA / Iberia / Finnair transatlantic joint venture.

We will be reviewing the new Aer Lingus A321LR single-aisle service to New York in July.

Tomorrow, we will publishing a review of Aer Lingus business class from Manchester Airport as Rhys heads to Barbados for a few days R&R work.

What’s the best way to make an AerLingus/Avios booking nowadays ?

    • Rhys says:

      On Avios.com

      • Mikeact says:

Do Avios.com/AerLingus use the BA chart for Peak/OffPeak dates . . (this year) ?

        • Mikeact says:

Obviously not, most of June, July and August is Peak. Amazing they should be so different to BA.

          • Mikeact says:

Need to check out July pricing etc., with some Avios involvement..if they’re way out of touch then it’s the Madrid option again.

  • Qrfan says:

OT – is h4p missing an Emirates Gatwick lounge review? Heading there tonight – Google suggests they have their own lounge but can’t see a review on here.

    • Rob says:

Never done it, never been there. If you could take a few photos and write a few paragraphs about it (we can edit it all together) then that would be fantastic, thank you.

  • S says:

I noticed some competitive business class long haul pricing with SWISS and Lufthansa too

  • slidey says:

If you have baec bronze can you use the priority/business checkin desks for aer lingus on an economy ticket departing lhr?

    • cats_are_best says:

Don’t think so, Aer Lingus isn’t a oneworld member, so no benefits for being BAEC Bronze/OW Ruby.

Afaik this applies even if it’s a codeshare that you booked via BA with a BA flight number.

  • Dominic Barrington says:

Is there any sense of when EI is joining the JBV across the Atlantic?

  • Greenpen says:

Not all LH fares will credit to other programmes. I went to DBX and the outbound on LX (class P) credited to A3 but the inbound on LH (also P) would not have. Had to use their own scheme. Check before you fly! I use Where to Credit.

  • John says:

Pricing my summer travel in Europe on lufthansa and swiss sites .. when I price two tickets on all these routes I get twice the cost of one ticket.. am I missing something or just unlukcy with my route choice?

    • Rob says:

If it doesn’t show at the prices quoted, for two, it’s not available on those dates.

      • Erico1875 says:

        I was same. C £1500 for 2 Edi to AGP for a week June/July.
        Pointless

  • Erico1875 says:

For that price, we can do Ryanair direct.,buy a row each which equates to a flat bed (•‿•) , stuff our self with chicken mayo wraps, get totally blotto on prosecco and cans of Heineken, all discounted if pre booked and still have change.
Top tip.** imaginary children get free seat selection.
