No Stansted Express from Liverpool Street or airport trains from London Victoria over Easter

If you are heading to an airport this Easter you should double-check how you are getting there as a lot of public transport options are out of action. This includes the Picadilly Line, which we wrote about last week, which will be closed beyond Acton Town from 15th to 18th April.

It is not just Heathrow that is affected. You will also struggle to get to Gatwick or Stansted.

Heading to Stansted?

Stansted Express trains from Liverpool Street are suspended from 15th to 18th April between Waltham Cross and Stansted due to engineering works. More information is here.

Heading to Gatwick?

Trains between Victoria and Gatwick, including the Gatwick Express, have also been suspended between the 15th and 18th, again owing to engineering works. Details are here on the Gatwick Express site. Thameslink trains are still running via St Pancras, Farringdon, Blackfriars and London Bridge.

There is also substantial disruption to many other rail and London Underground routes, as well as the usual Bank Holiday traffic jams if the sun shows any signs of coming out. Going away in the UK isn’t going to be a walk in the park (unless you literally do that) either ….

Considering your recent survey showed how your readership is less London biased than you thought, I’m surprised at the level of coverage this “London travel news” is getting 🙂

    • Rob says:

It’s less Central London-centric, not less South East centric, but that’s explained by the average age being higher than we thought (which is swayed by those who attend the parties). I think 0.6% of readers said they lived in Norfolk, only 1.4% in Yorkshire etc.

Christ almighty, people will complain about anything won’t you? Get over it, London is the most important city in the UK – despite how you may feel, the rest of it is an afterthought.

Not Rob’s fault some people choose to live in villages and expect the same standards/offerings/attention/focus as one of the most important cities in Europe.

If you don’t like it, move back to London rather than preaching about all the great benefits of ‘additional space’/’better air’/’quality of life’ while at the same time complaining Amex doesn’t offer you a 30% discount in some rural pub you frequent.

This is so true. The wHy DoN’t BA fLy FrOM NcL/LbA types are too much. As though the homes of Greggs / ASDA have substantial premium travel demand 😂.

Were the results of the survey ever published?

      • Rob says:

As promised, they were emailed to everyone who completed it.

        • ADS says:

“An astonishing 80% of our readers have either a BA Premium Plus American Express”

This was finding from the survey which most shocked me … it was obviously going to be high … but 80% … wow !

    Make that 2
