Earn 2,000 Avios with a £54 six bottle wine offer

We haven’t mentioned The Wine Flyer, the British Airways / Laithwaites wine business, for a while, but a decent offer has popped up this week for new customers.

£54, which includes delivery, gets you six bottles of red wine, 2000 Avios and two tumblers. You can’t argue with that.

There is no on-going commitment of any sort.

BA Wine Flyer

What is the Wine Flyer offer?

Wine Flyer is the trading name for the Laithwaites arm which offers Avios.

The latest offer is decent value. Note, however, that you must be a new customer to Laithwaites / Wine Flyer. This may, although it isn’t clear, include any wine you ordered via The Sunday Times Wine Club or any of the other Laithwaites co-brand schemes.

The Wine Flyer package costs £53.94 including delivery.

You receive the wine in the picture above, which is two bottles each of a “barrel-aged Rioja, luxury Aussie Shiraz and a dark, juicy original from Argentina”.

In total you get:

  • a six-bottle mixed case of red wine
  • two Dartington tumblers
  • free delivery within three working days
  • 2,000 Avios

You are not signing up for any club or subscription service. It is a one-off deal.

If you value the 2,000 Avios at £20, and you put no value on the tumblers (although Dartington products are generally good quality), you are paying £5.66 per bottle. You can’t really argue about value for money on that basis.

You can order on the Wine Flyer website here. The offer runs to 30th June.

500 points for existing customers…may tip the scales if you’re mainly doing it for the points

  • Cheshire Pete says:

My bank is currently doing 5% on Laithwaites. In addition my cards linked to my “Perkbox” benefits always return 10% back to that account, which I mainly use to buy iTunes credit which itself has another 6% off!

I use Laithewaites a lot, and like Rob when making an order always calculate price per bottle! I usually get it down to around £4 / bottle after those various extra discounts, typically up to 30% stacked. Blue light used to be 20% also I think it’s now 10%.

  • buchanan101 says:

Ordered from Laithwaites only a couple of days ago. Clicked through to this and it offered me the £53.94 + Glasses + 2,000 points, even logging in to my existing account.

Maybe there’s a time element for qualification for existing Wine Flyer (not Laithwaites) customers?

  • Charles Martell says:

For those double, triple dipping on this: it seems to trigger a credit from Square Meal too. if you have your card registered. I should have 10% Airtime, 40×54 Nectar points, and now 100 Virgin points.

  • Kevin D says:

Is it possible to create an Avios account for my brother, who lives at the same address, and buy the wine and transfer the 2000 Avios to my account? He isn’t an Avios collector. Although he would be paying as he’ll be drinking the wine!

    • Bobby says:

You’d need to setup a household account

    • Rob says:

No – he’d need to pay for the transfer which wipes out a lot of the value.

      • yorkieflyer says:

Not if you’re content to use them from said household account

  • mark2 says:

I have ordered and received this case.
I was impressed with how quickly the wine arrived and the Avios. Also how quickly it tracked on Lloyds Bank (20%), Nectar (20%) and Airtime (10%) so 50% in total.
Thanks to Charles Martell for the tip about Square Meal too.
Is there anything else I have missed (greedy boy)?
