IHG has launched a new cashback deal in conjunction with American Express. This is for IHG’s luxury brands – a similar cashback deal for the mid-market brands ends this week.

It’s a very simple deal.

The new offer will give you £100 cashback when you spend £350 by 16th September.

InterContinental Vienna cashback

The offer is limited to the first 10,000 people to register. You need to see if it is on the ‘Offers’ tab on the statement page of the Amex website or app for each American Express card you hold, including supplementary cards.

Cumulative spending DOES count.

The following hotels are taking part:

InterContinental Paris Le Grand

Whilst InterContinental Dusseldorf is on the list, this hotel left IHG six months ago …..

This offer wasn’t as widespread as I’d expected it to be across my cards. It was on my Platinum card but not on my BA Amex, and neither was it on my wife’s BA Amex. Obviously you won’t find it on the Marriott Bonvoy American Express!

This offer will double up with IHG’s current bonus points promotion which we covered here. You can register here.

Remember that IHG is currently offering instant Platinum Elite status in IHG One Rewards to anyone who wants it. You can register for that here.

The IHG website for bookings is here.

IHG One Rewards update – April 2024:

Get bonus points: IHG One Rewards is offering 2,000 bonus points for every two cash nights you stay (not necessarily consecutive) between 1st April and 31st May 2024. You can read our full article here and you can register here.

Would have been nice if it included the intercontinental Sofia, which would have benefited me greatly for later in the week. Can’t win them all.

  • Ikaz says:

IC Duesseldorf has been rebranded as “Hotel Kö59 Düsseldorf – Member of Hommage Luxury Hotels collection” so shouldn’t work (but Amex might still process it under the same hotel code, so it might just work…).
This offer looks like the perfect opportunity for an expiring 2for1 ambassador voucher

    • Paul says:

You do have to wonder what Amex and IHG are on. The IC Düsseldorf left the group more than 6 months ago.

      • meta says:

I have been receiving extra points on Marriott card for a hotel that has left the group in 2015…

        • Phillip says:

And having battles about hotels which are very obviously Marriott properties, but don’t get extra points automatically!

  • Ian says:

It’s on both my Plat and BA Amex.

  • Paul M says:

Me and my partner are staying at the Kimpton in Amsterdam in Aug using the ambassador free night voucher. Price is about £250 per night (but obv one night is free). If we spent £100 extra on food and drink in the hotel to get up to the £350.threshold does this count for this deal? Cheers

    • Chas says:

Should do, but get it charged to your room so that you pay off the entire folio at check-out to make absolutely certain.

    • Ikaz says:

It will work if you charge to the room, if you pay as you go, it sometimes works, but not always (it depends if the F&B venues have the same merchant code as the hotel or something)

I love the De Witt. I’m there Bank Holiday weekend. Great location and lovely staff.

Don’t forget the wine hour. Which is back to being a proper wine hour (for a while it was a pre mixed cocktail). In February they were giving out an amuse bouche to each guest as well.

Yes it will. Just remember the £/€ conversions in your calculations though!

      • Rob says:

De Witt is also bookable midweek on Ambassador 241 vouchers, although limited availability. Kimpton Paris has opted out of taking 241s.

        • Justin says:

Are Ambassador weekend rates available through Bon Vivant, or do they have to be booked directly with IHG?

          • Rob says:

            No, must go via intercontinental.com/ambweekend

De Witt has its top suite available for a 2-4-1 voucher (I had it once as an upgrade, comes with a private terrace). You’d pay around €900 but use a 2-4-1 and split the bill across two Amex cards with this offer and you’re paying under £300 per night for a HUGE space, at a time when £300 probably won’t get you a central Holiday Inn.

  • tony says:

Nothing for me, although interestingly I stayed at one of those properties just a few weeks back…

  • brian says:

    Added.

IC Dublin not included which is the norm unfortunately 😐

  • G says:

Quite slim pickings to be honest; IC Lisbon, IC Malta – no ICs in Eastern Europe.

    • Yorkshire rich says:

After the Morrisons offer where I realised I had spent the money in location that wasn’t on the Amex deal, but a few weeks later was credited for it nevertheless, I was for a split second half tempted to put my stay through on my Amex for the IC Sofia just in hope.

    • Rob says:

I think this is something to do with Amex and the way it organises its promotions. Irrespective of which hotel brand takes part you tend to only see the same countries included.

  • RomP says:

wow not on either of my BAPP or Biz Plat Cards…. I just did 3 nights at IC Barcelona for a conference and spent a ton of money.
