Yesterday we told you about the new Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer lounge in Heathrow Terminal 4, which opened this week as flights turned to the terminal.

This is a brand new lounge, which sits below the existing Premium lounge.

As explained yesterday, the new Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer lounge works like this:

Open to: Business Class, First Class, oneworld Emerald (eg BA Gold), oneworld Sapphire (eg BA Silver)

Guesting: You can only bring a guest if getting in via oneworld status

Which airlines?: The lounge can be accessed by Qatar Airways passengers as well as those flying on other oneworld airlines (eg Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc)

Reader Philip was in the new lounge last night and kindly sent us some pictures.

There was high praise for the food, which appears to be overseen by high end caterers Do&Co. Our reader said it is easily equal to the British Airways Galleries Club lounge and in places on a par with BA’s Galleries First.

You don’t get table service, of course. The full restaurant experience is only available to passengers using the Premium lounge.

All in all, it looks pretty impressive and a decent place for oneworld elite members flying in Economy – plus those Business and First Class passengers who are not on revenue tickets – to spend time before their flight. The Qatar Airways gates are directly opposite the lounge.

If flying on EY on AA ticket in economy can I access this lounge as BA Silver?
    Guessing probably not.

      • roger says:

Flying in Economy- probably only on QR or OW airlines not necessarily their partner airlines?

        • Reney says:

isn’t one world elite member =BA silver and above? Sounds like you can get in with BA status whoever and whatever class you are flying with.

    • manilabay says:

Hi Roger, no you would not. The BAEC Silver will not attach to the booking on Etihad’s website and since Etihad isn’t an alliance member there would be no recognition. The only way would be if you had AA Status then you might have got access to the Etihad lounge.

  • Andrew J says:

Looks like a generic Priority Pass type lounge, very unimpressive. And the food being equal to Galleries Club surely isn’t a good thing?!

  • Timothy Firmager says:

Sorry for the very basic question, but it does not seem clear to me. From your first photo in the article, I assume the entrances are next to each other (two entrances with signs in inverted Qatar branded colours). Which entrance is for which lounge????

    • Rob says:

I had the same question – it really isn’t well labelled from what I can see. However, I am guessing – as the new lounge is lower down – it is the purple entrance because the Plaza Premium labelled door is for a lift to take you upstairs.

  • memesweeper says:

It’s been a while since I was in Galleries but that looks like better grub to me.

  • Se London says:

Hi, do you know of the other lounge it’s open(Qatar Premier Lounge)? Website still says it’s closed but why would they move back to T4 and no open it?

    Thanks

    • Rob says:

      It’s open.

      • Cerbot says:

That’s great to know. I even called the Qatar Airways help desk and they told me it was closed. I guess they’re clueless

    • Phillip says:

The website shows it closed on Saturdays for some reason!

  • MQ says:

Will fly with Qatar next Sunday. Looking forward to giving this a try.

  • Catalan says:

Lounge looks big, and bland. Not impressed!

  • Harry T says:

“ There was high praise for the food, which appears to be overseen by high end caterers Do&Co. Our reader said it is easily equal to the British Airways Galleries Club lounge and in places on a par with BA’s Galleries First.”

All those BA lounges have terrible food though, I really don’t get this paragraph…

    • Andrew says:

+1. The photos don’t show anything particularly premium either…

    • Andrew J says:

Totally agree – saying the food is equal to Galleries food is something to make you want to avoid the lounge, not look forward to.
