Yesterday we told you about the new Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer lounge in Heathrow Terminal 4, which opened this week as flights turned to the terminal.

This is a brand new lounge, which sits below the existing Premium lounge.

As explained yesterday, the new Qatar Airways Frequent Flyer lounge works like this:

Open to: Business Class, First Class, oneworld Emerald (eg BA Gold), oneworld Sapphire (eg BA Silver)

Guesting: You can only bring a guest if getting in via oneworld status

Which airlines?: The lounge can be accessed by Qatar Airways passengers as well as those flying on other oneworld airlines (eg Malaysia Airlines, Royal Air Maroc)

Reader Philip was in the new lounge last night and kindly sent us some pictures.

There was high praise for the food, which appears to be overseen by high end caterers Do&Co. Our reader said it is easily equal to the British Airways Galleries Club lounge and in places on a par with BA’s Galleries First.

You don’t get table service, of course. The full restaurant experience is only available to passengers using the Premium lounge.

All in all, it looks pretty impressive and a decent place for oneworld elite members flying in Economy – plus those Business and First Class passengers who are not on revenue tickets – to spend time before their flight. The Qatar Airways gates are directly opposite the lounge.

  • Brian says:

Has QR taken over the space of another airline at T4? Or is this yet another lounge at the terminal?

    • Rob says:

Apparently it was just empty space, previously used by BA pre T5 but not as a lounge.

      • Brian says:

I see. So this will an additional lounge. Wow. Have any of the SkyTeam, El Al and MAS spaces been re-opened?

        • Rob says:

SkyTeam is closed and ripped out. Malaysia closed and ripped out. El Al closed pre covid and handed to US group ART & LOUNGE – I’d be surprised to see it back.

  • Save East Coast Rewards says:

There was high praise for the food, which appears to be overseen by high end caterers Greggs. Our reader said it is easily equal to the Wetherspoons in T5 and in places on a par with Burger King.

  • Ben says:

You don’t get in the proper lounge on miles tickets?!

    • Rob says:

Not clear. You don’t get in on the cheapest cash Business Class tickets – those are entirely lounge-free.

  • Phil H says:

Do we know what Champagne or sparkling wine that is?

  • Tarmohamed says:

    Is the PP lounge open?

    • Save East Coast Rewards says:

Nothing on the Priority Pass website as yet. Only shows T2 (no lounge but a bar you can use), T3 and T5. I imagine something will open soon once a few more airlines move over – the schedule for airline moves is on the Heathrow website

  • Michael S says:

What’s the rest of T4 looking like at the moment? Got a flight in a few weeks and I’m wondering if I should be looking at getting lounge passes for the rest of my party if the T4 food options are quite desolate post reopening. (The Heathrow website seems to list v few options for T4 at the moment, but then again I hardly remember what it was like before).

    • Rob says:

Passes for where? Plaza Premium is still shut. SkyTeam is permanently closed. Qatar’s cash right is a bit toppy.

  • AL says:

Qatar lounge denying OW Sapphires tonight on the basis that website says business and first customers only… 🤔

    • His Holyness says:

Day after the review, QR already denying eligible pax. That’s the QR we know and love…

  • Martin says:

Thanks Rob. Do you know whether or when the Qatar Premium Lounge will reopen?

    • Rob says:

      Which one? Heathrow is open.

      • Martin says:

Thanks Rob. Qatar Airways website shows T4 Qatar Airways Premium Lounge closed, Frequent Flyer Lounge open. Perhaps not been updated.
