News in brief:

Fever-Tree opens its first branded bar in Edinburgh Airport

If you’re passing through Edinburgh Airport soon, look out for the new Fever-Tree cafe and bar.

You can, we are told, choose from interesting combinations such as:

  • Espresso & Tonic – a double shot of coffee served over Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic
  • Chorizo cooked in Fever-Tree Ginger Beer and sherry vinegar
  • Scottish Smoked Salmon Flight: Hendrick’s Gin cured smoked salmon, Glenfiddich cured salmon, lemon crème fraîche, pickles and a selection of bread

Get double or triple Accor points on German stays

This is a niche offer, but if it applies to you then you could nicely out of it.

Accor Live Limitless, the loyalty scheme for Novotel, Sofitel, Pullman, Mercure, Ibis etc, is offering a Summer-long bonus points offer in Germany.

You will receive TRIPLE points on 2+ night midweek stays (arriving on a Sunday to Thursday) and double points on a 2+ night stay arriving on a Friday or Saturday. You can register here.

Our article on what we think Accor Live Limitless points are worth is here. 1 point is worth 2 Eurocents off your next booking, although you need to redeem in chunks of 2,000 points.

The standard earn rate at most brands is 2.5 points per €1. Triple base points means 7.5 points per €1. This means 15 Eurocents of free stays for every €1 you spend, pre-tax, which is a decent return. Anyone with elite status will earn even more.

You can also transfer your Accor points to Avios although you lose value compared to using them for a discount on a future stay. Do NOT transfer to BA because the rate is 2:1 – transfer to Iberia Plus at 1:1 and then use ‘Combine My Avios’ to move them across to the Executive Club.

The offer runs to 26th August and you MUST register before booking via this link. You can only earn the bonus once.

Here is a short review of the funky Pullman Berlin hotel if you’re looking for ideas. If you want to learn more about Accor Live Limitless, our full review of the scheme is here.

Fever-Tree bar seems to be “Trying Too Hard”. I’ll drink their atuff neat anytime.

And not sure if they’re comparing their ‘Flight of Salmon to a ‘Flight of Wines’. But if they are then only 2 types of salmon is laughable.

PS is the Fever Tree Bar aurside or landside? alwaya useful to know at airports

      • memesweeper says:

Airside IIRC – walked past it a few weeks ago

I’ll try the espresso & tonic at home one day… and if you have a machine at home everyone should try making espresso with water from their soda stream at least once

        Airside.

If you arrive as a domestic passenger you arrive into departures, so also can make use of it.

Does the Virgin app have a seat selector? Or am I forever doomed to use the unintuitive, buggy feature for this on the Avanti website?

  • k says:

Go on, entertain us with the fever-tree prices (and more importantly, why do HFP feel the need to market fever-tree?) #transparency
