News: Fever-Tree bar opens at Edinburgh Airport, good Accor promo for its German hotels

Fever-Tree opens its first branded bar in Edinburgh Airport

If you’re passing through Edinburgh Airport soon, look out for the new Fever-Tree cafe and bar.

You can, we are told, choose from interesting combinations such as:

• Espresso & Tonic – a double shot of coffee served over Fever-Tree Premium Indian Tonic

• Chorizo cooked in Fever-Tree Ginger Beer and sherry vinegar

• Scottish Smoked Salmon Flight: Hendrick’s Gin cured smoked salmon, Glenfiddich cured salmon, lemon crème fraîche, pickles and a selection of bread

Get double or triple Accor points on German stays

This is a niche offer, but if it applies to you then you could nicely out of it.

Accor Live Limitless, the loyalty scheme for Novotel, Sofitel, Pullman, Mercure, Ibis etc, is offering a Summer-long bonus points offer in Germany.

You will receive TRIPLE points on 2+ night midweek stays (arriving on a Sunday to Thursday) and double points on a 2+ night stay arriving on a Friday or Saturday. You can register here.

The standard earn rate at most brands is 2.5 points per €1. Triple base points means 7.5 points per €1. This means 15 Eurocents of free stays for every €1 you spend, pre-tax, which is a decent return. Anyone with elite status will earn even more.

You can also transfer your Accor points to Avios although you lose value compared to using them for a discount on a future stay. Do NOT transfer to BA because the rate is 2:1 – transfer to Iberia Plus at 1:1 and then use ‘Combine My Avios’ to move them across to the Executive Club.
