Hilton has opened the curiously named Lost Property St Paul’s London – Curio Collection by Hilton.

This is the third Hilton property in The City along with the DoubleTree if you include Aldgate’s Canopy. Hyatt has three if you include the Hyatt Place in Aldgate. Note that Hyatt Regency Blackfriars, the old Crowne Plaza The City, is not reopening until October.

Lost Property has 145 rooms and is just 100 metres from St Paul’s Cathedral. Being on the far western fringe of The City, it is walkable into Covent Garden and the surrounding area if you’ve got half an hour.

Hilton Lost Property St Pauls London

According to Hilton:

“The hotel’s name nods to the property that has been lost in the city – a theme which runs throughout the interior design, with ‘lost’ bowler hats joining eclectic artworks. The property itself is designed to feel like you are lost in an artistic maze, filled with history-rich panels and whimsical artworks. The interiors celebrate the intricacies of lost craftsmanship and innovative design, echoing the shapes and architectural forms found in St Paul’s Cathedral and the neighbouring streets. Bright and light rooms over six floors have been uniquely designed to capture the vibrancy of the local area – sleek and modern with marble bathrooms and an industrial touch, a nod to the hotel’s urban surroundings. Bespoke red and blue colour schemes reflect the city’s heritage, and several rooms have a prime view of the Cathedral.”

The hotel includes a premium coffee house called Tattle, which has a separate street entrance.

RE: Lost Property in The City
I wonder if anyone will end up going to Baker street by mistake.

  • TokyoFan says:

It’s the third in The City isn’t it – the Doubletree Tower of London on Pepys St counts I think (I’m staying there tonight!)

    • pauldb says:

And Marriott with the Westin and Threadneedles also want a word!

The Hyatt reference does seem rather spurious, I must admit. The Vintry and Mercer (SLH, but not bookable on Hyatt) is by far my favourite property in the City now. And for something a bit left field, the Counting House has a handful of very well specced bedrooms upstairs now, plus a solid breakfast served in the bar the next morning.

  • JohnTh says:

Staying there on 4th Aug, so hoping any opening gremlins are sorted by then. PS Booked tour of Charterhouse and also seeing whether The Gunpowder Plot is up to all the hype (rearranged from when they didn’t open on time in May)

Hope you booked more than 18m2 queen room and even if you’re upgraded to Junior Suite (they don’t have proper suites) it will only be a double and you’ll be in the loft.

  • Lady London says:

Poor airflow in buildings at that location I suspect

  • Sunguy says:

Isnt the old HSBC bank (the blank looking building in the pic on the LHS of the property) – I thought that was a Maccy Ds now ?
