Edinburgh’s Plaza Premium lounge opens on 1st September – save 15% on entry

  The fact sheet on the Plaza Premium website does indeed show this as being in the space occupied by the No. 1 lounge.

  There was a bit of an issue with the PP website yesterday as there is also a 20% discount available according to the pricing. However, whatever way I tried to get in to book my September date it only showed the 15%.

  I was in Edinburgh airport last week and was actually pleasantly surprised to get into the Aspire lounge with a PP card but I fly from Edinburgh a lot so the Plaza Premium lounge will hopefully be a welcome addition. Aside from presumably easier access for Amex Platinum holders are the Plaza Premium lounges also generally a better option in terms of quality?

    In general, yes, but it depends how much of No1 they kept. At Gatwick they basically retained all the Virgin Atlantic fixtures and fittings and it doesn’t look like a ‘typical’ Plaza lounge.

      Its the full space, with the extra section No1 was planning to open as an extra space to the left as you walk in.

  Great, another Edinburgh Airport lounge which closes at 8pm. Absolutely no use for the late flights, which inevitably are delayed.

  Airport has gone downhill in recent years.

    That’s down to the lounge operator rather than the Airport however. They will have decided the cost to remain open after 8pm is too high for the income they would receive for those flights.

    Should direct any complaints about opening times to the lounge operator really.

      Having been through recently, the shops are closed, the bar and food outlets (bar Costa) are closed. The Duty Free is now gutted with what domestic travellers can but (they refuse to do dual pricing, like even Luton do, for domestic travellers). And I’ve not even got to host poor the security management is, including jo fast track at that hour.

      EDI Airport is a shadow of what it once was.

      Yes and no.
      The airport could make it a condition of letting them the lounge space that they open certain hours if they wanted it to.
      That would of course make operating a lounge there less profitable and therefore reduce the amount the airport could charge them.
