Edinburgh’s Plaza Premium lounge opens on 1st September – save 15% on entry

The new Plaza Premium lounge at Edinburgh Airport now has a firm opening date – Thursday 1st September.

This will, I believe, use the space which used to be occupied by No1 Lounge, on the upper level by Gate 13.

The only thing we know so far is that the lounge will contain ‘a signature Edinburgh Gin Bar’ and a play area for children, as well as the usual buffet etc.

The opening hours are 4.30am to 8pm, seven days per week.

Full price entry appears to be £44. This reduces to £39.60 for online bookings from October (10% off), and £37.40 for September (15% off, the discount is automatically applied).

How to use a lounge club card at Plaza Premium Edinburgh

Plaza Premium is not part of Priority Pass or its sister scheme Lounge Key.

It is part of DragonPass, if you have one of those via your Barclays or NatWest bank accounts or have bought one direct. We showed you how to get a free DragonPass card in this article which allows you to pay just £19 per lounge visit.

You can also enter Plaza Premium lounges with an American Express Platinum card. You need to show your Platinum card (not your Priority Pass card) at the entrance. You are allowed one free guest.

Here are the four options to get FREE airport lounge access via a UK credit card.

The Platinum Card from American Express comes with two free Priority Pass cards, one for you and one for a supplementary cardholder. Each card admits two so a family of four gets in free. You get access to all 1,300 lounges in the Priority Pass network – search it here.

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold is FREE for the first year. It comes with a Priority Pass card loaded with four free visits to any Priority Pass lounge – see the list here.

Additional lounge visits are charged at £24.  You get four more free visits for every year you keep the card.

HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard gets you get a free Priority Pass card, allowing you access to the Priority Pass network.  Guests are charged at £24 although it may be cheaper to pay £60 for a supplementary credit card for your partner.
