Get great value Reading and Leeds Festival VIP packages with IHG One Rewards

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

IHG One Rewards has been trailing these packages for a while and they are now live. If you want to attend the Leeds or Reading festivals this year, with VIP privileges, it’s your lucky day.

The Leeds packages are ludicrously cheap, so cheap that I feel there is a mistake somewhere .…

EDIT: Readers booked all the Leeds tickets within minutes. Reading is still available at 7am Wednesday.

Irritatingly, I won a 10k reading festival package back on 30 Jun for vip weekend packages through ihg share summer (had been watching the coming soon thing for ages) receiving through the confirmation of having won. Lo an behold, a couple of days later I get told they posted them erroneously early. Since then been in touch with that IHG team who told me these were going live today. Hey presto, whilst Leeds is great at 10k (promotional apparently), I don’t have 150k points. Fair play to those that win this new opportunity but I feel very cheated as a result of what they admit to be their mistake. They did offer 1k points initially and when told that was derisive, subsequently upped 10k points deposited into account. They are covered be their t&c for this, but I wholly expected them to do the right thing here and they didn’t. A shame.

    • Rob says:

Yes, I heard about this – a bit of a mess but they seem to be having various issues with this platform. I’m not even sure that 10,000 points is correct – tickets for the full weekend for Leeds are £259 each with no VIP element, so over £500 per pair.

      • fuzzbox01 says:

Agreed. 10k evidently good value. At least someone there seems to think its right. Quote from email tonight.. “the inclusions of the packages for Reading have additional components to them which was the rationale for the higher pricing. The 10K packages for Leeds are promotional, similar to what we had done for the LTA packages in the past.”

  • fuzzbox01 says:

This was the content of theit email co firmation.

The one day I don’t check this site and this happens ! Does anyone know if I use my parent’s IHG account will it say their name on the ticket? (In case the put up more tickets)

  • memesweeper says:

Leeds is sold out – that was very fast!

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

I’m already booked for the Strathaven Hot Air Balloon Festival that weekend. Zero points!!

  • Ming the Merciless says:

Gutted I can’t make it due to flying to doing west Coast USA for 2 weeks with all hotels and flights on points!

  • Barry cutters says:

So I’ve just bought the 150k points package to reading before surprising my Missus with the great news!! Only to hear her confused response as I realising that’s the weekend we have family staying over. She has gone a bit mad- apparently I’m expected to remember that we plan to ruin our bank holiday weekend by having the parents in law over for 3 days.
Also the suggestion of me going with a mate only seemed to escalate the situation !!

Here’s hoping I can blag IHG rewards team to cancel the order. It says I should expect a call within 5 days to organise so I might be able to convince them the booking was made in error .

Absolutely gutted to be honest, I could never justify spending £895 of real money to stay in a tent for 3 days on top of the £600 for tickets, but as I’ve got 2m points this was essentially costing me nothing . And the extra like drinks , food , golf buggy lifts , and backstage stuff would all have made it an amazing experience !!

The Leeds tickets are phenomenal value – must be a miss price . I may actually have got away with that as we could have nipped away for the Sunday night just to see the arctic monkeys . At that price it’s a steal!!

    • S says:

I had similar impulsive purchase then collision with reality. They replied to accept the cancellation within minutes.

      • Barry cutters says:

Still not had the booking email so waiting for that before cancelling .

        Points have left account tho

      • s says:

ok they’ve deducted points now and no further response to my email. Guess I’ll wait a bit longer…

    • Cameron says:

I’d happily buy they off you for the cash price of 150k points if you have no luck in cancelling them.

I unfortunately don’t have enough points but would love to go

  • buchanan101 says:

Surely judging on the relative value Leeds was meant to be 100,000 and someone messed up?

    • aseftel says:

Don’t think so. They were also doing Lollapalooza tickets for 10k last month.

      • Rob says:

IHG is also a sponsor, so they will get a chunk of free tickets as part of the deal.

As we saw with the 1,000 point tennis tickets earlier in the Summer, which were not an error because IHG emailed us to say they were available, IHG seems keen to whip up interest in IHG Access via these deals.

Any financial loss is a rounding error compared to what they are spending to launch IHG One Rewards. The takeover of BA’s First Wing in T5 will be costing six figures alone.

        • Laffertyb says:

I had a conversation with IHG on twitter to confirm the 10k points is correct:

          @laffertyb
Is it really just 10k points for two VIP tickets to Leeds? Just redeemed them and seems too good to be true!!

          @IHGOneRewards
That’s correct! We are thrilled you snagged VIP tickets to the Leeds festival during our Hot Points Summer. One of the many benefits offered exclusively to IHG One Rewards members. Enjoy the festival, and thanks for being an IHG One Rewards member!

        • BuildBackBetter says:

Rob, why is IHG taking over BA’s first wing?

          • Rob says:

It is covered in IHG One Rewards branding at the moment.

(Apologies, I was using ‘takeover’ in the way that advertising people use it, which I accept is confusing if you’re not in that game.)
