IHG One Rewards has decided to auction a last-minute VIP package for the Reading Festival next weekend.

Because they have messed up their timing a bit – the festival is next weekend – this package has attracted zero interest so far despite offering exceptional value.

Let’s try to find it a good home ….

IHG Hotels Reading Festival

You can bid here. The opening bid is 50,000 points.

To put this package into perspective, IHG recently sold off similar packages with camping for 150,000 IHG One Rewards points. The package you can bid on includes three nights of hotel accommodation on top.

Oh, and the festival is sold out, so this is your only way in.

What you get with the Reading Festival 2022 VIP package

The line-up is here.

Here is the full package you are bidding on:

Three hotel nights at the voco Reading festival guest suite (Friday, 26th – Monday, 29th August 2022)

Two Weekend VIP Tickets that allows you admittance to Reading Festival for the weekend, Friday, 26th – Sunday, 28th August 2022

  • Separate entrance through Reading industry guest route to show
  • Access to artist and industry guest area with guest bar, food traders and enhanced toilet facilities

Two Weekend IHG Passes with access to exclusive viewing areas at the Festival Republic Stage presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts

  • Access to IHG exclusive side of stage platform at the Festival Republic Stage presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts
  • Selection of 2022 Reading and Leeds festival merch
  • Food tokens
  • Drink tokens to be used across guest and arena bars
  • Buggy runs between the Festival Republic Stage presented by IHG® Hotels & Resorts and main stage / guest area
  • And much more to follow!

One ‘behind the scenes’ festival tour

You can bid your points via the IHG Access Experiences site here. It isn’t on the home page so you’ll need to use search.

Annoyingly the auction ends at 5am on Monday morning (you can tell that IHG’s US office is organising this!) so if you are desperate to win you will need to set your alarm.

Goodness me, they`d have to pay me a lot more than 95k to spend time at that venue although I have had some agreeable evenings at the nearby casino.

  • SRF. says:

    Went for 195k points

  • Alex W says:

Well that was interesting. Thought I was going to win for 160k, but the timer extends by 5 minutes if there’s a last minute bid! I panic bought some extra IHG points (at least there was a 75% bonus…) and managed to submit another high bid for 190k. But I was pipped at the post for 195k. Well done to the winner, have a great time!

  • SRF. says:

The repeated time extensions did seem bit of a d!ck move by the organisers. Happened 2, maybe 3 times

    • Rob says:

Marriott has always done this with its auctions. The ending can drag on for an hour.

  • Alex W says:

If it wasn’t for the secret IHG ‘flash sale’ last week I probably would have bid higher!

  • barry cutters says:

Has anyone who had won/bought a package had any details about this from IHG yet?

the festival starts on Wednesday , i did email a week ago and they replied to say details are out soon. but still nothing with only a couple of days to go.

  • Odd says:

Seems like a peculiar niche market of festivalgoers who are rich in IHG points? I have a ticket for sunday I now can’t use and am finding it extremely difficult to get rid of; for IHG points or otherwise 🙂

    • barry cutters says:

      they have sold out.

Im not sure what the capacity is for this year but its normally over 100k.

You wont struggle to sell the ticket.
