British Airways has finally begun to load its Summer 2023 schedule from London Gatwick.

I’d had a number of reader emails about this so it is good to see them up for sale and redemption at last.

Avios availability is wide open if you book now. The Summer timetable starts in late March 2023 and will continue until the end of October.

Which new routes is British Airways launching from Gatwick?

So far, we know of nine routes which British Airways is (re-)launching. As you would expect, they are all in popular summer holiday destinations and include:

  • Catania
  • Dalaman
  • Faro, Portugal
  • Heraklion
  • Kos
  • Lanzarote
  • Paphos
  • Tenerife
  • Thessaloniki

We will have to wait and see if any more are added to the list.

These routes will all be operated by BA Euroflyer, the new British Airways low cost subsidiary. However, the ‘low cost’ element only applies to what the crew and pilots are paid. In-flight service and benefits, including lounge access, are identical to what mainline BA flights offer, albeit Gatwick flights use a different caterer to Heathrow.

What is Avios reward availability like?

Here is a SeatSpy screenshot from this morning’s article for Paphos, for days with two Club Europe business class seats. Obviously Economy will be wide open too.

In total, BA has released four business class and eight economy seats per flight.

Other destinations will be similarly open, although not ever route is daily.

What can I book?

You can currently book as far out as 20th August 2023 due to BA opening up seats at 355 prior to departure.

You can book on the BA website here.

So only 9 routes announced so far, how does this compare to what they ran this summer?

  • John says:

Thanks for the heads up – Santorini booked for next August. Interestingly I managed to get off peak avios pricing which seems odd for peak summer holiday season

Looks as though Double TP promo on BA Holidays has now been extended to September 2023!

      Yep 🙂

      It has, yes.

Had to laugh at the statement: “Bonus Tier Points will be awarded separately to standard Tier Points and within 14 days of your return flight.”

      • Chris says:

Yeah – they can’t even award standard ones these days. I am owed 360TPs from April this year. Multiple chasers, emails, calls, twitter but nothing.

  • Alison says:

Thanks for the heads up – we’ve been waiting for Paphos and booked as soon as I got your update!

  • babyg says:

Hmm will they(BA) bring back Seychelles?

  • Nicky says:

Does BA have a contact number for gold card members

  • Fazzy Bear says:

Think I’m overthinking a simple equation.

Which one is best value is I have more than enough avios to cover 110k?

    110000 Avios + £ 4.00
    104000 Avios + £ 36.00
    96000 Avios + £ 80.00
    74000 Avios + £ 140.00
    50000 Avios + £ 364.00
    34000 Avios + £ 484.00

    • MattB says:

if you value at 1p per avios then the bottom is, although not much in it between the bottom 3. If you are avios rich i’d go for 74000 Avios + £ 140.00 as it looks to be around the standard RFS pricing.

  • Paula says:

Am I to assume this summer timetable will run to end of October? I.e. times/dates shown in August will be the same in September once published? Thanks
