    It was a big shock to me, David. One day she was smiling happily at Miss Liz Truss and doing the professional finger kissing stuff they do with new PMs – probably also had just had a big laugh with Boris Johnson in the morning as they got on great. Next thing, she’s toes up, gone to meet the Big Maker.

    Her Mother (the Queen Mother) lived until she was 102. Her dear husband Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh (consort of the British Monarch) lived until he was 100. It gives you expectations.

    Why oh why did Elizabeth R have to go so young?

  I understand the divided opinions on whether “The Show Must Go On”.

  But if you’re going to do a pause, this is a wonderfully inventive and relevant way of doing it, rather than the cookie-cutter treatment by most media and corporations.

    Well let me be contrarian. I say: the Premier League has got it exactly right by cancelling this weekend’s football fixtures. What better way of expressing respect for Her Majesty (may she RIP)? You possibly think black armbands, a minute’s silence or perhaps applause – and a genuine loudly and proudly sung burst of the National Anthem before the games played as normal would have been a better alternative? No doubt also a few tears from the supporters before the match went ahead. All picked up on national TV.

    Very shallow alternative. The Premier League surely knows what it is doing.

    I agree with this comment. The last 24 hours or so have been fairly absurd, in my view, for a whole host of reasons, and the idea of not posting out of respect for the Queen is no outlier in that regard. I am not particularly interested in any royal tributes, but I appreciate that’s likely not the majority opinion. That said, I think that what HfP has done with this collection of photos shows a great deal more thought (and relevance to the audience) than has been displayed by many companies in their public statements/reactions.
