RwandAir launches direct Heathrow to Kigali flights

We wouldn’t normally cover route launches of this sort, but it is worth a mention given that RwandAir is planning to join the oneworld alliance alongside British Airways.
Should it go ahead – and we explained more in this article last month – it would open up new options in Central Africa for British Airways Executive Club tier point earning. RwandAir currently serves 28 destinations across East, Central, West, and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
As RwandAir CEO Yvonne Makolo said at a conference last month:
“Joining oneworld will help us gradually improve our products and services and what we are offering to our passengers.”
And in a media statement she added:
“We are exploring the possibility of entering the oneworld alliance. This would be a perfect fit for RwandAir and help us forge closer ties with like-minded airline partners overseas.”
RwandAir currently flies from Heathrow to Kigali via a stop in Brussels, using a fleet of next-generation A330neo aircraft.
From 6th November, the Brussels stop disappears. The flights from Heathrow to Kigali will become non-stop.
Frequency is also increasing, from the current three flights per week via Brussels to four flights per week non-stop.
