Back in August we brought you the first part of the British Airways Summer 2023 schedule from Gatwick Airport. This is the first full Summer to be operated by the new BA Euroflyer operation.

The remaining 20 routes for the Summer 2023 schedule will become bookable during today, Tuesday. They may be there by the time you read this, but if not you should check back later in the day.

Avios availability will be wide open and you should have no trouble getting the seats you want.

BA Euroflyer British Airways Gatwick Summer 2023 flight schedule

As a reminder, the Summer timetable starts in late March 2023 and will continue until the end of October. As Easter is late in 2023 (Good Friday is 7th April) the ‘drop’ today will include flights covering the long holiday weekend.

All flights will operate from the South Terminal at London Gatwick.

The additional 20 routes released today means that, we are told, the Summer 2023 Gatwick short-haul schedule is effectively complete. There is potential for another couple of routes to be added but no decision has yet been taken.

Which new routes is British Airways launching from Gatwick?

Here are the ten routes which were put on sale at the end of August 2022:

  • Catania
  • Dalaman
  • Faro, Portugal
  • Heraklion
  • Kos
  • Lanzarote
  • Malta
  • Paphos
  • Tenerife
  • Thessaloniki

Here are the routes which will be added to ba.com during Tuesday:

  • Alicante
  • Amsterdam
  • Antalya
  • Bari
  • Bordeaux
  • Cagliari
  • Dubrovnik
  • Gran Canaria
  • Ibiza
  • Malaga
  • Marrakech
  • Menorca
  • Nice
  • Palma de Mallorca
  • Rhodes
  • Santorini
  • Seville
  • Turin
  • Venice
  • Verona

These routes will all be operated by BA Euroflyer, the new British Airways low cost subsidiary. However, the ‘low cost’ element only applies to the cost base. In-flight service and benefits, including lounge access, are identical to what mainline BA flights offer, albeit Gatwick flights use a different caterer to Heathrow.

Our latest review of the British Airways business class lounge at Gatwick is here. Our latest review of the British Airways First Class lounge at Gatwick, for Gold card holders (no Gatwick flights have First Class) is here.

What can I book?

You will be able to book to mid October 2023 due to BA opening up seats at 355 days prior to departure, so virtually the entire Summer 2023 timetable will be available today.

Only a handful of dates in late October 2023 will be unavailable. If you are looking to book for October half-term in 2023 then you will need to wait a few days for those flights to open up.

You will be able to book on the BA website here at some point during Tuesday.

  • Chas says:

Any news on further long haul routes being added? I’m still hopeful that San Jose (Costa Rica) will be extended to cover the UK summer season.

    • Eoc says:

That route is on a par with Sydney for being one of the most popular Avios destinations out there y

      • Rob says:

Doesn’t Iberia fly this too? If nothing else you’d save a ton on taxes and charges by going from Madrid.

        • memesweeper says:

They do, and daily as well.

        • Chas says:

Had been hoping to utilise a 241, but the cash saving might well be worth it – will check it out. Need to factor in the cost of positioning flights x4 too, and I’m not sure what the family appetite will be for the risk of mis-connects either.

          • Nick says:

SJO is a winter-only route and there are (at least currently) no plans to extend it into summer. The aircraft is allocated to a different route so they’d either have to close that or find an additional aircraft from somewhere to keep it.

          • Chas says:

Thanks Nick – useful to know that there are no plans to bring it back as a summer route as it had been in both 2020 and 2021. I’ll start looking at Iberia options.

        • The Original Nick says:

I do most of my flights out of Madrid now.

  • Sad says:

This’ll be why the 2p per Avios deal expired last night 🙁

    • Peter says:

The 2p deal would never have worked with this. I think from memory the 2p deal was until Easter or thereabout

    • Harry T says:

      These are avios bookings.

      • Andy says:

By default as soon as the flights are loaded they will be available for cash as well though, and some people might prefer to go that route to earn tier points

  • Michael says:

No sign of anything bookable yet? From memory the winter ones didn’t turn up until about lunchtime

  • PeterK says:

The daily LGW- Glasgow rotation remains, operated by LHR crews, 0645 ex GLA and 1025 ex LGW.

  • JohnM says:

A sigh of despair from those of us living North of Birmingham for whom the drive to and from Gatwick is longer than many BA European flights. Which is why I reluctantly often choose LH, KLM or AF alternatives from MAN or BHX to a BA Gatwick route…

  • Toby says:

Any idea what time will be released – got a heap of Menorca cancellations I’d like to rebook ASAP

  • George K says:

Sad that Athens doesn’t feature. I can’t imagine why not…

    • tony says:

Not sure if that’s sarcastic, but presumably there’s an awful lot of transit traffic through LHR so doesn’t make sense to split the route between two airports.

      • George K says:

Not sarcastic at all. I took two of those LGW-ATH flights during the peak of summer and they were rammed, so I thought it would be a shoe-in.

It’s true that there’s a lot of transatlantics feeding into LHR and then on to ATH, but I thought the LGW route could stand on its own two feet.

What was a bit weird was that the inbound flight back to LGW was always timed exactly the same as the LHR flight on some days (so there would be a 13.45 to LHR and a 13.45 to LGW).

        Anyway, I was a big fan… !

    • Jonty says:

Summer 2022 there were weekends only flights to/from Gatwick. Always a chance they turn up later

  • Andy says:

No certainty flights will cover the Easter period unfortunately, flights to Catania from the earlier drop start only on May 1st
