Feeling lucky?

An interesting event has just popped up on the Hilton Honors experiences website.

Is it worth a 35,000 points punt?

This is what it says:

“Surprise Holiday Performance at Hilton London Metropole

Join us at Hilton London Metropole on Thursday, December 1st to kick off the festive season in style with a surprise musical performance. Previous musical guests have included Kylie Minogue, Olly Alexander and Ellie Goulding. Join us this year to see who will be our very special celebrity guest.

This experience for two (2) includes:
-Access to a surpise holiday musical performance on December 1, 2022
-Arrival drinks and canapes

Please note, this experience does not include rail, airfare or hotel accommodations.”

Hilton is asking 35,000 points for two tickets which, on our 0.33p valuation, is roughly £100-worth.

Do you think they will rustle up a suitably big name, and one which you would actually want to sit through?

Up to you ….

You can redeem on the Hilton Auctions platform here – search for UK events. There are eight pairs of tickets left at the time of writing – there were nine originally, I think.

  • Steve R says:

The Metropole is surely the worst Hilton in London. Stayed there in the summer and will definitely not be doing so again.

    • Rob says:

Really? It’s had a massive refurb in recent years.

      • Brian says:

It could be that not all the rooms have been refurbed. Certainly, there is nothing wrong with the ones that have been done. Sure, it’s not going to win any prizes, but it’s significantly better than the Hilton Olympia, for instance. The Executive Lounge is not bad.

        • Rob says:

Hilton Olympia is not much of a benchmark! Did a lot of £30 day rooms their during covid. Staff even sent me a Christmas card in 2020!

          • Brian says:

i only mentioned the Olympia as being a better candidate for worst Hilton in London for Steve R…

      • Wilson says:

I’m sure it’s 100% the case before refurbishment. It was the first and only Hilton hotel I’ve ever seen a cloakroom with a plastic box proactively asking for tips! Not even worth mentioning the poor attitude of their staff both at main Reception and Executive Lounge. Breakfast was ridiculously crowd as well (far worse than Doubletree Tower Bridge if you were there anytime recently) and no tendency for them to set up any dedicated area for Diamond Guests which many other London Hilton hotels do. Things may get better after COVID but unless hearing very positive reviews I will still avoid it at all cost.

    • aseftel says:

Stretching the definition of London a bit, but I’ll nominate Watford for that honour. The puzzling thing is that it’s the closest group hotel to Hilton’s EMEA headquarters. The Hilton in McLean by comparison is impeccable.

      • sayling says:

I’ll see your Watford, and raise you London Southend Airport…

        • Doommonger says:

Watford Hilton, (not in London) doubled up as the Linton travel Inn, and the entrance to Costco almost opposite is the site of Alan and Michael messing about with traffic Cones. I can confirm that there is an eat all you like buffet breakfast. Bring your own plate.

        • Rob says:

Is there a Hilton at Southend? The Holiday Inn attached to the airport was very pleasant on the one occasion I stayed.

  • Carl says:

Rumour is it’s Michael Bublé this year.

  • Nick says:

    All packages just sold out!

  • MT says:

I am in London anyway that week, so figured might as well roll the dice and find out. At 35k points, if its rubbish not really much lost and just leave early.

    • Rob says:

Couple of drinks each and you’re at about £100 anyway given current prices 🙂

  • Mutley says:

Olly Alexander? you’d have to pay me.

  • MT says:

Exactly and main thing is it doesn’t include a night at the Metropole. Made the mistake of staying earlier this year for 1 night, never again!

Should also say thanks for the heads up, would never have known without HfP

  • E4 Traveller says:

    It could be Jim Davidson.
