IHG One Rewards has been busy ….

Bid for two night suite stay, with a Dyson hairdryer thrown in, at Kimpton Fitzroy!

One thing we like to stress with the various ‘experiences’ auctions offered by Hilton, Marriott, Accor and IHG is that you should always read the small print.

What can often seen uninteresting can get more attractive when you read the details – and if no-one else reads the details, your chance of getting a bargain jumps sharply.

IHG One Rewards is currently running a promotion to ‘Come and experience London, walking in the shoes of Inthefrow’s Victoria Magrath.” No, me neither.

Dig into the small print though and you may suddenly become a big fan of Victoria:

  • Two nights in the Kimpton Corner Suite by Victoria Magrath, inclusive of breakfast, at Kimpton Fitzroy (image below)
  • Two cocktails of your choice at Fitz’s Bar
  • Access to Victoria’s ‘Sip & Shop’ London Itinerary
  • A voucher for £50 to spend at London Serenity, mobile spa experience, to be pampered in your room
  • Personalised welcome note from Victoria
  • Complimentary gifts within the suite including a Dyson Supersonic, sleep kit, workout accessories, stationery, flowers and more

The Dyson Supersonic is worth at least £330, even if it is the cheapest model which is provided. A standard room at Kimpton Fitzroy can run to 120,000 points per night these days, and you would get two nights in a suite.

Importantly, you can pick your dates. Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve are blocked, but apart from that you have a free choice – subject to the suite not being booked by a paying guest – until 31st January.

The current bid is a low 140,000 IHG One Rewards points – some people would pay that just for the hairdryer.

The IHG Auction site is here. You can find out more about Kimpton Fitzroy on its website here.

Am I able to transfer out the 1,000 IHG points? Or are they like the complementary Melia rewards that just sit in your account until you complete a stay?

  • Joey London says:

I appreciate you highlighting the auctions platforms generally. But you have to know that when you call out a specific auction experience as a steal to your many subscribers, no one ends up winning except the auction house. :-/

    • ianM says:

Yes indeed, and your statement especially the part about no-one else reading the details is nonsensical after it’s been promoted here!!!

“What can often seen uninteresting can get more attractive when you read the details – and if no-one else reads the details, your chance of getting a bargain jumps sharply.”

No-one is going to get a bargain now LOL

    • TGLoyalty says:

Sure IHG is happy with the free plug 🙂

    • Ryan gill says:

      Good po6

  • Concerto says:

But the 25% off Black Friday sale is applicable to the best flexible rates only, so the bookings can’t be non refundable.

    • Rob says:

The price is arrived at by taking the Best Flex Rate and knocking 25% …. not the same thing!

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

They book into a different room rate – book early and save – with the non refundable T&C.

The rate may be 75% of the BFR but the T&Cs are different.

  • Chris says:

Feel sorry for anyone who had their eyes on, or were currently bidding on that experience 🙁

  • Ammar says:

Sl OT – Booked Kimpton Clocktower with Emyr and the IHG luxury rate states 100 usd value added amenity specific to hospital. Can I use that credit in the hotel restaurant? and should it not be 100 gbp or do they convert to it GBP at the current exchange rate? First time using Emyr for a booking so not sure. TIA

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Yes the $100 is converted to £ – so approx £ 83 at the moment.

Unless there are any other T&Cs you can use it in the restaurant and bar. Charge it to your room and it’s applied at checkout.

    • TGLoyalty says:

No 100USD is correct they’ll convert but at the hotels rate most likely not to be spot so about £75-80 but they’ll tell you.

  • lumma says:

Yeah, Airbnb works with a code you enter so I think you can use the app too.

I tend to use a “clean” browser that i don’t use for anything else when trying to make these purchases as Firefox has a ton of tracker blockers enabled which means they often don’t track

  • Henri says:

Off topics slightly, I have a reward night that expires at the end of December and with the rail strikes announced yesterday and other commitments I struggle to see how I will be able to use it. Does anyone know of any success in trying to get the deadline extended and who to contact to do it if possible. Many thanks

    • Rob says:

It’s a booking deadline, not a stay deadline, if its from the UK credit card. If its from anything else then you’re stuck. You’ve got 37 days, plenty of Euro Christmas market opportunities etc with no rail strike issues.

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Checked my bookings and already have better rates (and cancellation terms) than in this sale.

The only one where this offer is a better price is around a weekend with a proposed train strike so I’m keeping my cancelable rate until I know what trains might be offering)
