IHG One Rewards has come out with a potentially very generous deal for Cyber Monday and, erm, Cyber Tuesday (or whatever tomorrow is called).

You will earn 10,000 bonus IHG One Rewards points for every two nights you book by midnight on Tuesday. You can register here.

Even better, this stacks with the existing IHG One Rewards bonus points offer.

IHG has kept it as simple as it reasonably could:

  • you MUST register before booking via this page of ihg.com
  • you need to book by Tuesday 29th November
  • you must stay by 31st December
  • you will receive 10,000 bonus points for every two cash nights you stay
  • all hotels and all brands are included, as long as they are bookable at ihg.com

To flag up potential areas where you could go wrong:

  • the two nights do not need to be consecutive
  • there is no cap on how many bonus points you can earn
  • reward nights do not count
  • ‘points and cash’ nights do not count
  • stays must be booked at ihg.com
  • bonus points do not count for elite status

There is one catch to note. The rules say that you must book by:

“29 November 2022 (11:59PM Local Standard Time)”

What is ‘Local Standard Time’? Is it the time zone of the hotel? Is it the time zone you are in when you book? Is it the time zone of the national IHG website you choose to book on? For safety, I would ensure that all three of these things are OK. It is risky to book European hotels at 23.30 on Tuesday when it is already Wednesday at the hotel.

This offer stacks with the current bonus points offer

What makes this deal even better is that it stacks with the existing IHG One Rewards promotion.

This offer lets you choose between:

  • 2,000 bonus points for every two nights or
  • 10,000 bonus points for every four nights

The offer runs to 31st December so the dates match with the 10,000 points offer. You can register here.

And there’s more ….

American Express is currently offering £75 cashback when you spend £300 at selected IHG hotels in Europe.

Assuming that it hasn’t already hit its registration cap, you may see this offer on the ‘Offers’ page of one or more of your American Express cards. You need to click ‘save to card’ to register.

Stack these three deals together and you could do very nicely.

Remember to check that the hotel you are considering is on the cashback list which you will see when you register. Note that the list is sorted by post code and not city which is confusing if you are looking for London hotels. In the UK sections, some are under S, some under N, some under W and some under E.

What is the bonus worth?

We value IHG One Rewards points at 0.4p. There is upside and downside to this number but you should always hold out for at least 0.4p.

This means that the 10,000 points you get for completing two nights are worth £40.

Let’s assume that you can book a cheap hotel somewhere for £50 per night – admittedly tough at the moment in London, apart from around the airports, but you might have more luck in Europe or the UK regions, especially over the quiet Christmas period.

Let’s assume you book in for six nights at £50. You get:

  • 30,000 bonus points (worth c£120) via this Cyber Monday / Tuesday offer for doing six nights
  • 10,000 bonus points (worth c£40) from the standard Autumn offer, for doing four nights
  • £75 cashback from the American Express cashback promotion for spending £300, if the hotel is taking part
  • six qualifying nights towards IHG status and your next Milestone Reward

You would get £235 of cashback and points in return for spending £300, and you’ve got six hotel nights out of it too. You will also receive base points and elite status bonuses on top.

If the maths works, it could even be worth a mattress run if you were close to a Milestone Reward. We explain IHG Milestone Rewards in this article.

In my case, I am on 18 IHG nights for the year. If I can get to 20, I get a Suite Upgrade voucher valid for a 5-night stay in 2023. This has real value, and I will be looking seriously at the cheapest way of getting two nights under this offer. It will need to be a mattress run because I have a full schedule for the next five weeks – 3 Hyatt nights, 4 Accor nights, 1 indy night (out of the 30-ish remaining nights of the year) but nothing I can move across annoyingly.

Conclusion

This offer is well worth a look if you still need to book some hotel nights before the end of year.

You must register via this link before booking.

If you’ve not already done, you should also register for the general IHG One Rewards Autumn offer this via link.

Is there a way to check if I’ve registered for the offer? Or a direct link to the registration page? The link in the article comes out mangled on my phone; I’ve tried to register, but can’t see this in my offers. Thanks!

Should the 10k points be showing on the checkout page where the IHG ® One Rewards Earnings Estimate are shown please?

  • Gulz says:

Has anyone noticed how sneakily IHG has put the prices up for this sale? Just last week I booked 1night at HIX Luton for £68. Same date is now showing £80. 3 nights in HI Naples booked for €394, rebooked yesterday for €402.
    Same for the cash&points sale. HI Kandooma booked for 42k + $150 = 72k points. Now rebooked for 42k points + $138.75 = 72k points, i.e. $138.75 -> $185 – 25%. Bagged myself a few cheap points.
I bet the rates will come back down again tomorrow.

A “Get 1,000 IHG One Rewards points for downloading the IHG app” offer was described on 23 Nov. Anyone got the points yet?
