We’d be delighted if you could join us for a private shopping event and reception on Thursday 15th December, hosted by luxury luggage manufacturer Globe-Trotter.

If you are in the market for a smart suitcase, you’ve probably taken a look at Globe-Trotter. Established 125 years ago, Globe-Trotter handmake all of their suitcases in the UK. The company is world renowned for the quality and workmanship that goes into the production of its luggage.

Knowing that the HfP reader is a person of refined taste, Globe-Trotter is hosting a small reader reception at their flagship store in the Burlington Arcade in London.

We are offering 30 HfP readers with an interest in travel and craftmanship the opportunity to come and enjoy a glass of bubbly, view the latest Globe-Trotter products and chat to Rob, Rhys and other readers.

The event will take place at the Globe-Trotter store in the historic Burlington Arcade (between Green Park and Piccadilly Circus) from 6pm-8pm on Thursday 15th December. There will be Globe-Trotter staff around to answer questions and show off the cases and bags available. Christmas is coming, after all ….

Tickets for the event cost £10. Globe-Trotter is offering a 10% discount and a free luggage tag worth £95 for all attendees who purchase a Globe-Trotter product on the night. It’s worth noting that Globe-Trotter very, very rarely discounts so this is a good opportunity to jump in. If you need more time to decide, the 10% saving will be valid for a month after the event.

Because it is a small store, and to maximise the number of readers who can attend, we are limiting tickets to one per person.

You can purchase your ticket using this link here from noon today (Monday 5th).

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 15th.

They do truly gorgeous suitcases, if you like that sort of thing.

  • John T says:

Maybe the company should give away one suitcase to a lucky attendee rather than these silly luggage tags to everyone.

  • Peter W-G says:

“from noon today (Monday 4th).” Today’s the 5th…

BTW a glass of Prosecco at nearby Cecconi’s is £10.

  • Andy says:

Terrific, not. I just bought my wife one of their suitcases for Christmas, could have done with the 10% discount.

On another note, she already has one of the London Squares bags bought last year. I had to wait 6 weeks for delivery because “they are made to order” which is why I assumed some of the high cost was there. The one I just purchased was delivered in 3 days.

I do own one of cabin trolleys. They are exquisite. However they are not very practical as mine came with leather straps and it was too much work to open them mid-journey. There was also no easy way to stash away items if that is the only piece one is carrying on board. I asked the advice of a person I saw carrying one on Eurostar but I ignored his discouragement. I think it is useful for certain special travel occasions but maybe not as a workhorse item. Can also work as elegant decor.

Surely only the brave or reckless use expensive branded hold luggage as it is surely an advertisement that the bag and contents are worth nicking and secondly the likely hood of damage to the said luggage?

    • Rhys says:

….and yet weirdly, none of the luxury suitcase brands are out of business!

      • Navara says:

Most will be used when off for a jaunt in the Bentley

For the record Globe Trotter is 65 % owned by Privae Equity Firm Oakley who buried £120m deep in the business to keep it running. It is heavily leveraged and we suspect it will be sod when the market turns to LVMH. It makes a loss as it debt to revenue ratio is very high it has never made a profit and relies solely on PR and celebrity endorsements to delive te and equity required to improve its potential as an acquisition

  • Greenpen says:

I don’t really notice suitcases; something on the luggage belt that has acquired a few more scratches. My cases are all Tripp, bought cheaply from Debenhams ten or more years ago and still going strong (although one has lost a thing that slots into the lock, but adequately replaced by a zip lock nylon strip it’s got a good many years left)!

    • Andy says:

Mine are all Tripp as well bought at Debenhams. They seemed to be the only ones making luggage with clamps instead of zip ups which I find really flimsy.
