Last month, British Airways announced a new partnership with Uber.

To get it moving, BA is offering UK residents 250 Avios just for linking your Executive Club and Uber accounts so this offer is of interest even if you are only an occasional Uber user.

The offer of 250 Avios ends on 31st December, so you should get a move on if you haven’t already done it.

Earn Avios from Uber

How does the Avios / Uber deal work?

The new Uber deal lets you collect 1 Avios for every £1 you spend on travel in the UK via the Uber app.

Having used this a few times since it launched, it is shockingly effective. You should have your Avios within 30 minutes of your ride ending.

As well as rides, you will also earn on coach and train tickets booked via the app in the UK.

You do not earn anything for Uber Eats orders.

As a launch bonus, everyone who links their British Airways Executive Club and Uber accounts via the Uber app by 31st December will receive 250 bonus Avios.

How do you register?

Open the Uber app and click ‘Account’ in the bottom right, followed by ‘Settings’. You will see this:

Collect Avios from Uber

Click through and you’ll be taken to a page where you can link your Uber account to your British Airways account.

When you return to Uber, it should now show this:

Link Avios to Uber account

What happens if you DON’T see the registration box?

Uber accounts seem to lock to the country in which the app was last used.

If your last Uber ride was outside the UK, you may not see the registration link. Some people had success by giving the app access to their location settings, allowing it to see that you are in the UK, but this only seems to work for some.

If this is an issue for you, you will probably need to wait until after your next UK Uber ride to link your BA account.

When do the 250 Avios arrive?

We don’t know. No-one seems to have got them so far.

You do NOT need to take a ride to trigger the bonus. Simply linking your British Airways and Uber accounts is enough.

Remember that the sign-up bonus ends on 31st December.

I just had a look at it. Pricing is all over the shop – eg. £14 more for a Thameslink return ticket than if you search for the same journey in National Rail Enquiries.

  • Vostravios says:

My accounts are linked but trips haven’t been credited as avios – any ideas?

  • Samra says:

I still haven’t got 250 bonus avios, 13 days still remaining to complete 30 days after Dec 31.
