IHG One Rewards has announced a new global promotion following a fallow few weeks.

You need to register here. It isn’t ludicrously generous but it is simple and straightforward.

IHG One Rewards is the loyalty scheme covering InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo among other brands.

How does IHG’s new bonus points promotion work?

The offer runs from 9th February to 14th April.

You must register in advance via this link. Registration is now open.

What will you earn?

It’s simple:

IHG One Rewards Spring bonus points promotion

You will receive 2,000 bonus points for every two cash nights.

Nights do not need to be consecutive.

Reward stays do not count.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.  Only one room per stay counts towards the offer, so if you are booking multiple rooms you should put each in a different name.

What is the bonus worth?

The standard earning rate in IHG One Rewards is 10 points per US$1 (81p) excluding taxes.  I value an IHG One Rewards point at 0.4p although you can often do better, which means your base return is 4p per 81p spent, ie 5%

Of course, most HfP readers will have some sort of IHG One Rewards status.  This comes with a status bonus (applies to base points only):

  • 20% bonus for Silver Elite
  • 40% bonus for Gold Elite
  • 60% bonus for Platinum Elite
  • 100% bonus for Diamond Elite

Under this offer, and assuming you do an exact multiple of two nights, you get an extra 1,000 points (£4) per night.

This means that the offer is heavily geared towards people doing low value stays at, say, Holiday Inn Express-style hotels. There isn’t much here for anyone planning a week at InterContinental Maldives.

Conclusion

Bonus points worth £4 per night are nothing to get hugely excited about, except on low cost stays, but# you should definitely register if you will be doing any IHG stays this Spring.

If you’re planning some heavy spending before 30th April, you may be better off with Hilton’s current offer. This is worth double base points on all spending – so ideal for expensive hotels – plus an extra 1,000 points for every different brand you visit. Our article on that is here and you can register here.

Radisson, Marriott, Accor and Hyatt are not offering any global promotion at present.

Click here to register for IHG’s new bonus points promotion.  It kicks in for stays from 9th February but you can register today.

  • Tariq says:

An email from Marriott the other day contained a teaser for their next promo: ‘Stay tuned for our newest promotion! You᾿ll earn more when you stay between February 7 – April 23, 2023. Registration starts soon.’

  • Harry T says:

Registration is open for the Marriott Bonvoy global promotion.

    • roger says:

Just registered for Marriott via app but IHG promo is missing in the app both Android and iOS

      • E says:

The Marriott promo isn’t appearing yet on my app not when I log into the website. Will have to wait and see if it does appear in the next few days.

        • southlondonphil says:

Marriott promo was in my account when I logged in this morning – 1000 points plus 1 bonus Elite Night credit PER NIGHT of stay. Will make renewing Platinum easier 🙂

Apropos of the IHG offer, currently have a targeted promotion that gives 3000 points for every 2 nights which ends on 8th Feb so this is a bit of a downgrade.

  • BJ says:

I doubt we will see any great offers from any of the major chains this year,. They know they will have another bumper year with excessive rates and they’ll achieve high occupancy despite this or loyalty incentives.

  • Crafty says:

    I miss Accelerate.

    • Simon says:

Accelerate was great, made me shift some stays to IHG. Can’t imagine anyone moving a stay to IHG off the back of this promo.

  • SGJNI says:

When are we getting the points for the last offer?

    • Concerto says:

Good point. I haven’t got mine. Probably will have to bang the table and make all the glasses rattle.
The links in the above article do not lead me to a registration page.

  • Andrew J says:

Let’s hope there’s some more of those points flash sales like we had last year with IC Paris for 30k etc – to balance the lower earning potential with pathetic promotions.

    • NorthernLass says:

Indeed, though I’ve still got 2 bargain stays to complete from the last one – IC Park Lane and the George this summer at 40k pn. PL is now 95k for the same nights!

    • Lee says:

You can book IC Danang for 16k per night this early morning

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

Would be good but they had a 20% off points stays recently so it might be a while.

  • Max says:

Are we sure that the two nights don’t need to be consecutive?

  • MY says:

The IHG link doesn’t work for me!

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

It worked for me at 08.25 and am now registered.

    • PB says:

If you have the IHG app installed on your phone the link takes you to the app (which doesn’t have the offer) not the website. Open Rob’s link in Incognito mode
