Hilton Honors has just launched its new Spring and Summer promotion, Resort To More Pointswhich is now open for registration – click here.

To give Hilton credit, it is very straightforward with minimal small print:

  • you will earn 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for every stay between 1st May and 5th September
  • the bonus is doubled to 4,000 bonus points per stay at selected resort properties
  • that’s it!

There is no cap to what you can earn and there are no minimum stay requirements.  The bonus will trigger on reward stays too.

What is your return here?

Given that I value a Hilton Honors point at around 0.33p, you are getting a good return on your spending here.

For someone who only does one night stays, you would be earning 2,000 bonus points per nightI would value that at £6.66 which is a decent result especially as it doesn’t include your base points or any status bonus.

Of course, if your only Hilton stays during the four months are five nights long, you are not doing too well.  Your bonus will average 400 points per night (2,000/5) which I’d value at £1.33 per night.

I think part of the reason for offering 4,000 points at resort properties is to make the offer slighly more palatable for doing longer stays. A list of which hotels count as ‘resorts’ for this offer is on the registration site.

Hilton Spring Summer 2023 promotion

There is no small print

There is no small print except that you need to register in advance via the Hilton website:

  • there is no minimum stay requirement
  • existing bookings still count
  • all Hilton Family properties (Hilton, Hampton, Curio, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad etc) are taking part

Conclusion

2,000 bonus points per stay is a decent offer for someone who tends to do short stays.

If your hotel stays are generally just for one or two nights at lower cost brands then you may want to consider moving them to Hilton over the next few months.

Make sure you register here if you have any Hilton stays coming up over the next four months.

Even if you don’t have any stays planned, it is still worth registering just in case – a lot can happen between now and 5th September.

  • Algor says:

Rather poor promotion, looks like they swapped the usual schedule as this always Q1 promo but we got double points now.

    • John says:

Better than double points for anyone spending less than ~£200 on a stay, depending on USD exchange rate and after taking VAT / equivalent taxes into account.

  • James says:

    Pretty pants, but hey-ho.
Marriott double night promo was good.

  • Annabel says:

Morning. With Amex spend £200 get £50 back offer – if it’s billed in EUR for a non refundable booking direct with Hilton that should be ok? Thanks in advance.

    • Rob says:

      Yes

      • Annabel says:

Thank you! So for non refundable on line bookings this works with Hilton website?

        • Rob says:

Yes – just ensure you get charged before the offer end date (if the stay is for afterwards)

    • tan says:

does it have to be £200 on 1 transaction…or can it be 2 transaction for say £70 and £130…so total is £200 to get the £50 back?

      • Rob says:

Can be cumulative – Amex offer rules say ‘spend £200 in one or more transactions’ if I remember rightly.

  • Concerto says:

I must say that I am almost through with Hilton because the hotels have become too expensive and there just aren’t any properties in most of the places I need to go to in Europe.

    • John says:

Agree on both points, IHG seems to be significantly cheaper than Hiltons of the same quality in the same locations in Europe (incl UK), and that’s before taking into account the Amex offers (of which I have IHG on all cards but Hilton only on half of my cards).

Also 50:50 on Hilton breakfast going away worldwide soon. And if they are going to do another “retain diamond with 1 night” promo next year, I’m not really keen on trying to retain it with 30 stays this year.

      • BuildBackBetter says:

        Whats the 50:50 on breakfast?

        • Lady London says:

well, it’s clear the useless substitution of breakfast with a few dollars that will barely buy a coffee, isn’t intended by Hilton just to stay in North America…

I too have noticed Hilton properties are even more out of whack with a reasonable price for the property, than several other chains these days. But hotel prices still largely remain ridiculous for anyone not living off OPM

  • Ian says:

    Poor this time.

But you can’t win every time

  • Meyers says:

Better than ‘from the second stay’ (atchya Hyatt!)
Bonus points are unlimited, not capped
    (atchya Hyatt!)
    Existing bookings count!
Also stacks with current Amex offer, spend 200 get 50 back! 🙂
    Right, where to next?

  • DevonDiamond says:

Works for me as I only do 1 night stays

  • LostInAsia says:

Hilton has become annoying with their moves towards letting you pay extra to pick specific room features, which other chains are also beginning to do.

It means they now have a stack of room categories having very minor differences, leading to a “free upgrade” with no value. A room with a sofa bed (“perfect for families”) is not an upgrade for a booking with 1 guest. A room with new curtains isn’t an upgrade. A room with one extra square metre of space just inside the doorway isn’t an upgrade.

Often the consequence of these meaningless upgrades is for the OLCI room choice to reduce to 3 rooms in the higher category, blocking you from picking the standard room on the top floor that you know has a perfect view of the river/cathedral/park/mountains, is wider than others, is one of the refurbished rooms, and is away from noise.

No, sorry, you can’t have a nice room, you can only choose this room on the first floor next to the elevators and service store because that has a sofa bed you don’t want and that has no value to you, but which we call an upgrade. OK, great. Thanks, Hilton.

    • The Savage Squirrel says:

Sounds like something that can be solved very easily via an Email or live chat. Most hotels are quite responsive.

      • LostInAsia says:

Easier to spend my money at a chain where status gets me a proper upgrade, not a pretend one, and where I don’t have to waste my time on “live chat” arguing that having a bigger kettle doesn’t make it an upgrade
